Guest guest
From the MOTHER'S ENCYCLOPEDIA published by the PARENTS' INSTITUTE NEW YORK N.Y. CONTRIBUTORS...One hundred and ninety-eight men and women who have won national recognition as EXPERTS in various phases of child care. Copyright 1942 This is why we were misled into believing that germs cause disease. Here is the expert. " The common cold is an acute communicable disease caused by the growth of a specific germ in the nose or throat. AS YET THE GERM THAT CAUSES COLDS HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN NOR ISOLATED. It belongs to a group of organisms that are so small that they CANNOT BE SEEN EVEN UNDER THE MOST POWERFUL MICROSCOPE- small enough to pass right through very finely meshed porcelain filters that hold back ordinary germs. Disease producing agents of this class are called filterable viruses. The FACT that they cannot be seen, that they cannot be prepared with certainty in the laboratory, makes research difficult. NEVERTHELESS IT IS NOW ESTABLISHED THAT A LIVING AGENT EXISTS, BELONGING TO THE CLASS OF FILTRABLE VIRUSES, THAT IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING THIS DISEASE. It is also established that the presence of this disease agent is necessary for the development of a cold- A TRUE COLD NEVER DEVELOPS UNLESS THE VIRUS IS PRESENT. WHY WE GET COLDS: We get colds because we come in contact with the virus, we do not get colds because we get wet feet, or sit in a draft or become chilled. Under the careful conditions of the laboratory the common cold has always been produced in a susceptible person whenever some of the VIRUS OF THE COLD WAS PLACED ON THE MUCOUS MEMBRANE of the nose or throat. The virus is thus the primary cause of the common cold; without the virus there can be no cold. COLD SYMPTOMS: When the virus of the cold gets an opportunity to GROW in a person's mucous membrane, etc, etc. The cold begins soon after exposure to the virus etc, etc. CONDITIONS THAT FAVOR COLDS: Before a cold can develop the VIRUS MUST BE PRESENT. The virus is the primary cause of the disease: without it there can be no cold. " I have read this a dozen times since I came across this book, I just shake my head with disbelief, the first time I read it I was sure I had read it wrong and read it twice more. Since this book I have come across more with the same non-sense. I just can't decide were they con artist or just plain stupid? Here is the author of that. Dorothy V. Whipple. M.D. Medical Officer, Division of Research in child Development, Children's Bureau, Washington. This stupidity requires no comment from me. Anybody wanting a photocopy, no problem, send me a self addressed stamped envelope. Do you get it? The medical profession established, this means they decided, just said that's it we said it, you believe it and that settles it. This is what makes up the majority of your so called medical science today. It is all conclusions spoken by doctors who must have been recipients of their own drugs. One would have to be high to make statements like that. This is the crap they fed your parents and grandparents and why your generation believes.
