Guest guest
Any one travel to Dominican republic with un vaccinated children? I am hoping we will be fine but I was looking for others who may be a bit more knowledgeable in this area. Is there any reason to worry? Any help would be great. Guest guest
Hi there! Our oldest went to the Dominican Republic with a group from her high school about 5 years ago or so. They were staying with local families where they ate the food (all of it cooked, they mostly ate stews) and they were provided bottled water and a mosquito net for sleeping. Our daughter hadn't had any vaccines since her school age ones (age 5) so she was " due " quite a few and quite a few were " recommended " for the trip, but we sent her with lots of supplements - vitamin C, allimax (garlic), etc. (all sealed to get through customs) and homeopathic remedies (I bought some books re: travel remedies) in case she ran into any problems. We told her not to drink any water not in a bottle or eat any raw foods washed in water (salad, fruit unless right from a tree) and she was fine. If you are in a hotel the one thing I would be worried would be the water (or anything washed in water) Rita
