The trouble is there are NO benefits to vaccination. That is why I have never

signed such forms unless I have changed the wording myself to state that I have

NOT been told of the dangers of vaccination, especially in the light of the

usually trivial nature of some of the diseases and the fact that others are

actually side effects of poisoning by vaccination, like meningitis.

All that may happen is their clerical staff will be extra busy for a short time,

(email will be nice and quick) then they will get on the peds' backs and say

they MUST give out the consent forms and inform parents (but as usual, only what

THEY consider to be information.) it isn't going to change the QUALITY of the

information that parents get.

If Gerberding can be pushed out for her views (I don't doubt it!) they aren't

going to be honest with consumers of pHARMa.

Sorry if this sounds so negative, but I don't believe we can change their PR

this way. Not sure that we ever can as they have deep pockets - yours, the

taxpayers!

I agree, the info statements are a pack of lies. But, I think it is newsworthy

if docs are withholding them until after the fact. Most people will agree that

it's wrong to dismiss informing patients of side effects, even minor ones. I

must digress to a recent experience not involving vaccines, partially to vent

but as an example of how it can make people sit up and take notice when docs

withhold info.

I was recently at the neurologist's with my mother. She has been diagnosed as

NOT having Alzheimer's, and she functions just fine. She is being given drugs

anyway because of my brother's insistence, drugs that she is having behavioral

side effects from.

Anyway, when Mom told the doc she would do whatever he wanted (!?! strangling

motion with hands...) he decided to switch meds. When I said I would like to

research the studies/side effects, then discuss this with my mother first, he

flipped out on me " you heard her, she made her decision. It's what I'm choosing

for her. " I couldn't argue with him or I'd never be allowed to go to

appointments with her again. So, I asked what the side effects were, and how

she would use this patch the med came in. " Maybe a rash, alternate it from one

shoulder to another; maybe nausea. "

I came home, pulled up the package insert and of course there is way more to it

(don't put patch in same place for 14 days, many serious, frequent side effects,

and several things that were " critical " for caregivers to be informed about

which he didn't mention). The one thing that is getting my parents attention is

that this doctor didn't volunteer this info, especially when asked for it. He is

losing credit in their eyes and Mrs. " I'll do whatever you say, Doctor " is now

talking about getting a second opinion.

So, back to the topic of vaccines--it's not a bad idea to publicize the casual

way parents are being informed of side effects. It makes people suspicious of

the doctor's judgment and what else they might not be told. I'm just not sure

how you could rally people together to get the word out.

yEAH...I know I never received anything when my son received his shots. After I

left the practice I saw that my signature was not on anything!! My son was on

his way to autism...according to his speech pathologist. When they did an eval

at 18 months he had " some " precursors to autism. Luckily I found a naturopathic

just in time and went through the whole cleansing process and cod liver oil and

withheld the rest of his shots. He just turned 3 and although he has a speech

delay, he is catching up pretty quickly. Our doctor never gave us anything to

sign. We just blindly agreed to the shots.
