You can always say you're researching. Use your time to read up on that vaccine and others to come. Don't feel pressured and don't give into the doctors. They will probably try to bully and/or threaten you but stand firm. After all, you are the parent and it's up to you to make informed choices about your child's health. So, read, read, and read some more !!! Find out about diseases themselves, so you're not afraid of some " deadly disease " everyone seems to be mentioning these days.. Research the vaccine ingredients as well... Magda
Guest guest
I felt the same way! You will come to a conclusion. If I were you, I would do absolutely nothing till I new one way or the other. It will take awhile to gather the info. When my baby was a newborn I didn't let anyone near her (but close family) . There are cultures that do that. I think it is the Chinese who hold off till the baby is 6 months. I felt , at the time, since she wasn't vaxed, I would keep her safer till she got older. Now that she is a year I am more opened. I bring her around. However, I do wash hands a lot. I know she needs to be exposed to the bad guys too. (bacteria) She is. She has an older sister. I feel now that she is older she is better equipped to handle a more serious sickness if she contracts it. When they are very young it is more dangerous for them to catch these disease. She was at home with me as-well. Right or wrong, I did what I thought was best. Guest guest
Hi Shari! Welcome! I know....my head was spinning for months. In a nutshell what you will learn will make your head spin all the more. I have learned the following this past year from this group, reading books, viewing VAERS, studying ingredients, viewing previously reported statistics from the CDC, and my own personal vaccine induced nightmare... 1. The CDC lies about how rare adverse reactions are 2. Doctors are trained to not read vaccine literature - therefore they do not recognize adverse reactions when they occur. Even if they do recognize them, rarely are they reported 3. If your child were to die or be seriously harmed by a vaccine, there is a 50% (or higher) chance that you will not be compensated through the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Claim process 4. The CDC lies to the public about number of lives saved by vaccines (their reported death statistics before/after each vaccine came on the market has not changed). Yes, the number of disease cases have dropped, but the number of deaths from disease has not. Meaning the vaccine didn't do anything to prevent those numbers (which were extremely low anyways) 5. Although the FDA approves vaccines now matter what the ingredients, they also ban or limit certain vaccine ingredients from food or over the counter products because they are hazardous to your health! Research stocks, pharmaceutical products, director of FDA for further info 6. Every single agency and individual involved in the vaccine program (who are " pro-vax " ) stands to gain in one way or another financially 7. Every vaccine is capable of killing or seriously injuring you 8. Vaccines have never been studied long-term. Many reactions occur months later (diabetes is one of them) I still keep my pediatrician in the event that she is needed. It truly is all about eating correctly, taking quality vitamins, sunshine and exercise. You could also google home remedies for illnesses too (like Grandma used to use). > > HI! I am new to this group. I am very concerned by the vaccine effects that could happen to my son. I have slowed down his vaccs, but I know that it is still harmful. Guest guest
Hi Shari, First of all, I would suggest putting off the appointment. If your son is healthy, he doesn't need to go see the doctor. Just tell them your schedule has changed and that you'll have to reschedule at a later date. IF you decide not to cancel, they will likely poo-poo your fears AND they will try to coerce you into vaccinating him. I know each story is different, but the DTAP is what did it to my best friend's son when he was two. She had separated the vaccines (not into individual vaccines, like tetanus, then diptheria - I don't even think you can do that with that particular one - but did polio for one visit, then a few weeks later did the dtap, etc.) thinking she was helping her son beat the onslaught and thus not have any ill effects. Well, he's going to be five in November and still can't talk or use the toilet, etc. etc. He faded soon after his two-year dtap shot and is now fully autistic. ANYHOW, we do not see a naturopath, but only because we have never needed one. Not vaccinating doesn't mean to you can only see alternative docs. You just need to find a doctor near you that will be open to your choice to not vaccinate. We get the occasional homeopathic remedy at Whole Foods (or our home-town, family-owned version) and those last quite a while. Hylands makes a nice " Kids Kit " that is about $30 that helps with colds, etc. Has about 6 or 7 remedies. We do see a chiropractor regularly. My son has never been sick enough to " need " to see the medical doctor. It can definitely be overwhelming, BUT you have time on your side! There is no schedule for having to vaccinate - if you do your research and at the end, feel the need to vaccinate, you can always do it later. But you can't undo the vaccines once they're in your sweet babe. Great books: Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parents' Guide by Aviva Jill Romm; Sanctity of Human Blood by Tim O'Shea; Neill Z 's newest book - can't remember the name of it, but it's a vaccine guide. Read, read, read! Everything will be okay! > > HI! I am new to this group. I am very concerned by the vaccine effects that could happen to my son. I have slowed down his vaccs, but I know that it is still harmful. Guest guest
Take a step back and take a deep breath. YOU are the parent, and YOU are in charge of your child's health. Don't let the healthcare system bully you. If you don't get the DTaP vax on the 25th, your child is most likely NOT going to come down with any of those diseases on the 26th. Doctors will try to convince you that if you don't vax RIGHT NOW, it means certain death for your child. The truth is, these diseases are rare, and getting your child vaccinated will not make much difference in whether or not they actually contract a disease. The vaccinated get the diseases they are vaccinated for, just like the unvaccinated get diseases once in awhile, too; and the vaccinated also have to worry about the risks of adverse reactions... something an unvaccinated individual never has to face. In light of that, why not cancel your appt on the 25th? You don't even have to tell them why you're canceling, just call and cancel. Then start reading... and read some more, and some more. You can always just keep delaying a vaccine and researching further till you're comfortable one way or the other (once you research them, I'm confident you will choose not to vaccinate), but once a child receives a vaccine, it can't be taken back; once it's in their system, it's in there for good... no do-overs allowed in this game! The media has really started stepping things up to try to create hysteria over the vaccine controversy (like they do on so many subjects). For instance they are reporting a recent measles outbreak as an " epidemic " , but it was only something like 130 people that contracted the mumps. In a country of over 300 MILLION, this hardly constitutes an " epidemic " ! Your child has a far greater chance of getting autism (current statistics are approximately 1 in 67 for autism) or other ailment from a vaccine than they do from contracting the measles in the wild. The media also blows the severity of the diseases way out of proportion in most cases. The measles used to be considered a rather benign childhood disease. Even my mom had it as a child and she's still very healthy and alive to see her grandchildren. Same with mumps, chicken pox, etc. It's really good to research and learn about the diseases themselves. You'll find that once you start studying knowledge replaces fear. Some book recommendations: " A Shot In The Dark " by Coulter/Fisher " Vaccine Safety Manual " by Neil Z. " How to Raise a Healthy Child In Spite of Your Doctor " by Mendelsohn, M.D. And here's an online video to get you started. it's 2.5 hours, but it goes quick because it's easy to understand. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/02/14/why-vaccines-aren-\ t-safe.aspx or http://tinyurl.com/4k5wc8 You can also search the archives for this list on things like DTaP, or " Pertussis " or any of the other diseases and vaccines and find a lot of info. There is also a plethora of info at Sheri's (listowner) site here: http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm and the Mothering.com website has a great forum on vaccination and natural parenting, too: http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=47 Welcome to our list, and good for you (and your child for seeking more knowledge on the subject of vaccines! ! Guest guest
Okay, my sleep-deprived mommy brain and my fingers aren't jiving... this should read " 130 people that contracted the MEASLES " , not mumps. Guest guest
Hi, Shari. Good for you to research this. It sure is overwhelming to try to learn the truth about vaccines and to let go of what we've been brainwashed with. You should be concerned about vaccine effects. I suggest waiting until you're sure if a vaccine is safe and will work before allowing it. You first need to protect him from the vaccines. That is the immediate danger to him, not the diseases. As far affording alternative health care, it's not cheap either to spend all your co-pays at the docs, especially after hours, when your child gets sick from vaccines. It's certainly not cheap to pay out of pocket for special services for your learning disabled child or to otherwise try to repair the damage. Try to look at it from that viewpoint. It's a tough spot to be in. Does your insurance at least cover alternative doctor's visits? I've had some companies that will do that but not cover the meds. Winni I am a new member.. Question? Vaccinations > HI! I am new to this group. I am very concerned by the vaccine > effects that could happen to my son. I have slowed down his > vaccs, but I know that it is still harmful.
