Guest guest
It was one of those days- found out my cousin's son (perfectly healthy all of his young eight years) has diabetes type I and he has been spending the last week with his young son in the hospital. Now, he will have to deal with this the rest of his life! No diabetes in the family, at all.....not sure about his vaccination status, but my cousin's wife is a nurse, so pretty sure he is up to date. Then, a teacher friend at work/school asked me about her four year old grandson with a speech delay who had a seizure for the first time last month. Never had one before, brain scans showed nothing unusual, and now have him on an anti-depressant (Keppra) which is also used as an anti-seizure medication?! I'm a speech therapist so she was asking questions about whether the medication could affect his speech development. Side effects listed for Keppra include, among many other nasty things, incoordination of muscle movements...there goes speech! Four years old??! Then came home only to see the new Menactra menningitis commercial stating that it can come from " kissing " and " sharing straws " ! Geesh! How can something be all around us...the answers be SO obvious, and so many are so blind!?
