Guest guest
No..I have no proof of anything I'm about to say... but here is my observation of my experience with vaxing versus not vaxing: My son is now 10 years old and was always a very fussy baby with lots of health issues that seemed to occur after vax time. He had lots of episodes of high fever and had so many problems with enlarged tonsils, we finally had to have them removed. Imagine a 4-year-old going through surgery? It was terrible! He was also an incredibly fussy baby, but looking back I realize it was always worse AFTER vax time. (I have a diary from that time, thankfully, as I was tracking something else in my life and just happened to mention my son's progress in his life as well...including vaxing. I mentioned vaxing in my diary because it was always so difficult for me to go through because my son would become so upset that I would get upset and cry along with him!) I finally stopped vaxing him after the tonsillectomy and he hasn't had a shot since. Today, I have a totally non-vaxed 6-week-old daughter. Wow..what a difference! Yes...could be personality difference and could just be a healthier child. But this experience is completely different than my son. She can be a challenge like most babies, but we don't have what I call the " mysterious fussiness " that cannot be understood, like my son did. I sometimes wonder if the fussiness blamed on colic can be due to vaxing. Just wondering. Anyway...we have experienced a lot of pressure from docs about our choice, but we are standing our ground and have found a vax-friendly clinic, thankfully. To those out there planning to not vax their babies, stay true to yourself. Don't let docs scare you into it. They are just doing there job and at the end of the day, this is your child and your choice. Take care, everyone.
Guest guest
Interesting oberservations, that I can agree with! My first three were fully vaxed up through age 3, my last is 100% vax free. At first I kept telling myself that it was just because babies are different, but I was finally willing to admit that I had harmed my first three before I knew better. My third showed the most obvious signs of a reaction (if you actually paid attention to it) and had delayed speech. My husband still doesn't want to admit that she was delayed but my first two, apparently handled the vaccines better, where speaking clearly by 2 and I still have moments with my third that I have no idea what she is saying. As we have focused on health on nutrition she has steadly improved and I am hoping that she will excel in school despite my ignorance in her first year of life. She also had bad eczema, and when she got molluscum contagiousum she had it the very worst of the three. I am actually grateful I was on the path to health when she got them because we basically let them run their course and after she had cleared them from her system her overall health improved! It is hard to acknowledge the differences sometimes, but I use this to my advantage when helping educate others! I cannot have a perfect past, but, I control my future! Guest guest
Your third probably had more vaccines, or combinations--maybe different manufacturers. My husband had to have a Hep B shot last year and was given a new kind. He had a horrible reaction to it and was out of work for about six weeks. I can't imagine how a newborn could handle it. Good for you to address this with your own common sense rather than depending on the docs who caused the problem. Winnie Re: My vaxed son compared to nonvaxed daughter... Guest guest
I wanted to add a bit of my story here as I think it also is along the same lines. My daughter is soon to be 16 months old and she is by far the healthiest kid I've ever met in my life. She has only gotten sick one time at 11 months old and it was gone faster than you blink. And do date she has only had one diaper rash as well that cooresponded with the one time she was under the weather. She doesn't get the sniffles, fevers, ect. She is also the most happy calm baby/child you can imagine. She has never been overly fussy or anything resembling colicky(SP?) and I think a lot of her terrific health and personality has to do with the fact she is completely unvaccinated from day 1. Additionally, my daughters father is learning disabled. When he was a child his mother gave him every vaccine recommended and he had such awful reactions to them (104 fevers, siezures, ect) that the doctor started giving him half doses of the vaccines at a time. The doctors say his learning disability and other mental imparements are not related to the vaccines. His mother says that he stayed in utero too long as an infant due to his 10 lb size (12 hours of intense labor) and that caused his mental defects (she thinks he was compressed too much). But I was also a 10 lb baby and I was in utero during intense labor for 22 hours according to my mother and have none of the same effects. Not to mention they did not start noticing mental imparements in him until after he had recieved almost half of his vaccines and they progressivly got worse. My daughter is smart as a whip and has never been poisened by those same vaccines that her father had such horrible reactions to. So if you ask me the vaccines caused the mental imparements he currently has. So definetely like you said if you feel strongly about not vaxing your kids please stick to your guns. I have had so much pressure from doctors and my family to vaccinate her and I am SOOOO glad I have not caved. I believe I made the right choice. My vaxed son compared to nonvaxed daughter... Guest guest
Hard to say about vaxing and colic. My first baby, vaxed, was a dream, but this was 1990 pre-Hep B and a lot of other vaxes. It wasn't until his 15 month MMR that his health turned from great to horrendous. My second was breech, a couple of weeks early, and always very uncomfortable and cranky (now he's my most easy to get along with--love him). I swear they must have given him the Hep B (1992) but the records show otherwise. Plus, I asked for it but was refused it because they didn't offer it here yet. My next two were great babies--no vaxes. I wonder what it was really like in the past with colic. Just like with certain diseases they play up as worse than death, was colic really common say 100 years ago? Winnie My vaxed son compared to nonvaxed daughter... Guest guest
I believe you've made the right choice, too. You parents are amazing who will stand strong against this without ever having been a parent before. It's such new territory that most of us are scared to trust our common sense.
