Guest guest
Hello, All, and thank you for the chance to participate in this most useful group. I've an early memory of being nearly killed by a routine childhood vaccine (small pox) that required a lengthy hospital stay and recovery, so I'm naturally wary of vaccines...but I'm also a traveler and so have concerns over the long list of vaccinations I'm " supposed " to get before visiting certain countries...mainly India, as my business requires trips to Mumbai as well as to rural areas. I've already traveled to India without the benefit (benefit?) of any vaccines or pills (for malaria, etc), but with my next trip coming up soon, I need to weigh my options. I've a weakened immune system to begin with, so this entire issue is alarming...having to decide whether I'm safer with or without the recommended doses (some 8 shots and dozens of pill type meds, a horrible thought). And so I look forward to learning what I need to know to make an informed decision. Strangely enough, it never even occurred to me to be vaccinated before my first trip to India, but here I am, returned healthy and hail, bringing back only good memories of a fine visit. , Upper Up State, NY

There are NO required vaccines for India No vaccine gives immunity All vaccines do is cause harm to the immune system The longer you are here, you will learn more and more. Lariam is a terrible pill for malaria and many serious reactions to that drug There are homeopathic options for prevention and treatment >And so I look forward to learning what I need to know to make an >informed decision.
