Guest guest
I wasn't sure myself but I've clarified with the medical department. I had thought that they want to administer antigen and got thoroughly confused as that seemed the daftest idea going. Anyway, I checked with them and they want to screen for Hep B and Hep C antigens. I'm waiting to hear back from them whether any vaccination is mandatory. DH spoke to the Medical department in The Hauge who have said that they are only recommended. We still don't know what the insurance company will do. Countries can do whatever they want. If hep c antibodies found will make you get hep b vax There is no hep c vax yet. Most times antibodies are thought to be a good thing but they changed the rules for hepatitis b and c. Guest guest
Thanks Sheri. I've just received an e-mail from them giving me a link to the recommended vaccinations. It also says that none of them are mandatory. I'm very relieved. They also only do medicals on children over the age of 12 so my kids won't have to see anyone (at least this time around). The only thing we will have to do for the kids is get them tested for blood typing once we have moved. Guest guest
The link didn't work but this is the list they sent me. Boy am I glad this isn't mandatory. Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Rabies ( for frequent visits to rural areas only), BCG (for children under 12). We tend not to give Rabies unless an employee is going to be based at a rural location. Have a feeling that hubby is going to get the lot. I'll try to discuss it with him later but his response today, to another question about measles from my in-laws, was that I don't have a medical degree and he trusts the doctors. I told him that doctors have been known to get things wrong and it is difficult to discuss the issue unless he does some research himself. Not much else I can do. Keeping my fingers crossed that he keeps the jabs to a minimum and doesn't get sick. Oh, by the way, he claims that he has been previously tested for Hep B and has been told that he has lifelong immunity. He's now convinced that he can't catch Hep B. I'm assuming that at some point in the past he must have had a Hep B jab. He used to travel to Nigeria a lot and it was probably mandatory for him at that time. Guest guest
Thanks very much Sheri. I've once again gone back and checked the information that DH sent to me and it says that that screening is only required for candidates whose work will constitute high transmission to others: i.e health workers, nursery teachers domestic labourers cabin crew, food handlers to mention just a few. None of those include either myself or my husband. So here's keeping my fingers crossed that the testing won't be needed either. All we have to contend with is HIV testing, x-rays for TB testing and blood grouping. Can't get out of any of those as we won't get our residents permit without them. Thanks so much for your help Sheri. Guest guest
We are moving to Qatar and it is a requirement of the local government in order to get Residents Permit and Medical Cards. I don't know the reasoning behind the demand, only that we have to comply otherwise we won't get the documents.
