That's a new one on me.  I woud have to fire him just for making such stupid

claims.

measles/ ped. question

I took my 2 and 4 year old dd to the ped. today for their well visit.

My 2 year old is unvaxed. My ped. accepts that I don't vaccinate and

doesn't argue or push me. I started to discuss some things with him on

the vax issue. He said that he is nervous about my 2 year old being

unvaxed, but believes it is my choice. He said that if my daughter got

the measles when pregnant that her unborn baby could be deformed. I

don't remember reading that anywhere. I was wondering if their are any

unvaxed moms that were concerend about this when pregnant? He also

clearly believes in the herd immunity theory. He said we don't see the

diseases as much because most people are vaxed. I aslo think he's

convinced that autism is genetic. He also said that their are families

with more than one child with autism, even though one child is vaxed

and the other is unvaxed.

He also said there are independent studies that show that vaccines

don't cause autism. I wanted to ask who funded these independent

studies, but I didn't.

Boy, oh boy. First, I think your doc meant German measles.

Second, it is his OPINION that we don't see diseases because of vaxed people.

And we see plenty of disease in vaxed people, and not just the ones he's

thinking vaccines prevent.

And autism might have a genetic influence, but it's a stretch to believe that is

the cause of the epidemic. It's just not possible.

I would ask him about those studies he claims show vaccines don't cause autism.

Who funded them is a good question, but I'd want to have him back up his claim

that these studies exist.

The best thing you can do is allow your child to have the basic

childhood diseases naturally, not only will it boost their immune system

it will prevent them from having it at a time when there could be

complications.

I am pregnant right now and they tested my blood to see if I was immune

to measles (from my childhood vaccine) and told me if I wasn't, they

would want to give it to me again because if I got measles while

pregnant the baby would have horrible defects.

Also, I know families where both kids have autism, one vaccinated and

one not vaccinated. But there are always a number of factors, not just

one. For example, the second, unvaccinated child - the mom had alot of

dental work done with mercury during pregnancy and ate tons of tuna

fish. You know? It's never just one thing...

That's what I was going to say, Jim! You took the words right out of my

mouth.

Wow Melinda, that's scary stuff! If a person isn't " immune " to measles

while they are pregnant, I fail to see how injecting them with the measles

vaccine (i.e. live measles virus) is going to help the baby. This is going

to subject that baby to the virus in utero, along with the diphtheria and

tetanus viruses and all those other toxins and chemicals, and most likely

making the mom AND baby sick in some fashion or anther, quite possibly

long-term. Ludicrous! I'd fire my doc at the mere suggestion that they

were going to inject me if they didn't find antibodies in my blood. Heck, I

fired my OB when they gave me the pamphlet about how they use the suctioning

device on his head to " help " the baby be born.

### Nope. I probably got vaxed for measles when little, but never had

them. Who knows if I'm immune? I was more concerned with adequate

nutrition, getting plenty of rest, not stressing, find a good midwife,

etc.

I aslo think he's

> convinced that autism is genetic.

### I can't remember who made this statement - maybe Dr. Tenpenny or

another anti-vax doctor - but they said " You can't have a genetic

epidemic. " And the numbers of kids with autism nowadays is in the

epidemic stages.

I don't think I'd get into a discussion with this ped again - if you

keep him, that is. It seems pretty pointless.

Congrats on the pregnancy,

Magda

Was the dr concerned with being immune from German measles/rubella?

They test me for immunity at the beginning of a pregnancy for rubella

but I've never heard plain measles brought up.

It was the rubella (german measles?) that they tested my immunity for -

and there's no way I would have taken the vaccine anyway. I'm now

trying to figure out how I'm going to avoid the antibiotics if I test

positive for Group B Strep...if this birth goes well, I think we will

do home birth for any future kids, I'm so tired of feeling out of

control of my body and my future baby's body!

You could skip that. I skipped it with both my pregnancies. It

doesn't mean a whole lot if you test positive from what I've read.

Clarification - I was referring to the Strep B test in my prior

message, in case it was unclear.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I fired my OB at 32 weeks (the day

I toured the hospital and the only thing they could point out to me that was

" natural child birth friendly " was the pretty wall paper on the wall), hired

a midwife and opted for a home water birth. Boy was I ever glad I did! It

was the BEST experience of my life! I didn't even have to test for Group B

strep, didn't have to fight over vaccinations or any of the other stuff they

give/do to a newborn in the hospital, and I got to sleep in my own bed with

my husband and new baby boy that night. My second was born at home in

water not quite three weeks ago; I can't even IMAGINE a hospital birth.

I have almost the same story !! I fired my OB at about 14 weeks (he had

told me during one visit how it was fine for me to gain more weight

than average since I was small, then on the next visit made a crack

about how I was gaining too much !!) Got a midwife and had a wonderful

homebirth (wanted water, but didn't work for me). Best decision I ever

made !!
