Guest guest
I can say from my experience with 5 unvaxed kids ranging from 3-22. We do not eat organic exclusively either. I started out pretty good with the earlier ones but it got more difficult as they went to school and such. My little guy eats plenty of " junk " and is fine. This is not to say that he might not be even finer with all organic, etc but budget and time does not always afford it. I used to drive myself crazy with the safe food issue and all that surrounds it. It got so overwhelming that I had to let go a little because to me, it is not a good life if you are constantly in fear of everything around you. I do my best to avoid the bad stuff though the more you learn, the more you will find that there just isn't much that is all that good. It just got to be too much. I will never vaccinate them, but I will feed them less than perfect foods if need be. I couldn't afford to turn into a basket case over it. We just can't be perfect about everything can we? Guest guest
The best thing you can do for your child's immune system is to allow him to catch the basic childhood diseases naturally. Also check into the vitamins some of them can do more harm than good, make sure it is a natural food based vitamin else you could be forcing synthetic chemical crap upon your child. Guest guest
Good for you for not allowing any more vaxes on your older ones. While not vaccinating is of utmost importance, wholesome nutrition is also key in maintaining a healthy immune system. I know its hard finding organic (but even the " food " found at the supermarket labeled organic is not really organic these days ). the more raw foods we eat the better (green veggies, fruits, nuts). Completely eleminate refined starches, sugars and processed foods from their diet... that is the biggest culprit contributing to our children's health issues today. What type of vitamins do you currently give them. Cod liver/fish oil (and other fatty supplements) , probiotics for healthy gut flora, Pure Vitamin C are essential to the immune system. I am sure the other moms will have great suggestions for you. Guest guest
Yes, it's still okay not to vax if you don't have a perfect diet. We don't either and we're alive. In fact, the vaccines could be even more harmful if you don't have the stronger immune system a really good diet helps provide. For a 10-month old, it's probably easier NOT to give him something than to get supplements into him. Depends on the child, but you'll be ahead of the game if you keep food dyes, artificial sweeteners (I'd rather they had sugar), hydrogenated oils, high-fructose corn syrup and fluoride out of his diet. And try to stay away from antibiotics. As far as school goes, he'll probably catch more things if you vaccinate than if you don't because vaccines weaken the immune system. You can't avoid all illness. He WILL come down with illnesses from time to time. It's okay. You're very brave to change from what you've done with your older children. Good for you! Guest guest
Oh, okay, I see. Good idea to grab extras. I've never figured out if I need to give a new one every year. Some of my kids' schools ask for a new one every year, some don't. I usually attach one to the health form. Winnie Re: ???? about not vax Vaccinations > > In a message dated 5/7/2008 12:53:01 P.M. Guest guest
> Please post some things to give them > vitamins that's right codliver etc i have seen that in adult area is that good > safe? Hi, For vitamins, go for food-based vitamins. Your body can use these much better than synthetic vitamins. Health food store is your best bet for these. For cod liver oil, I have seen Garden of Life brand in Whole Foods (health food store) but not Green Pasture's Blue Ice or Radiant Life - you'd have to order these online. Those are the only 3 brands I'd recommend. FYI, my son will be 4 in August and has never been vaxed. He's been in daycare for 2.5 years now and he gets less-than-optimal food there. He eats pretty good at home, but is very picky and doesn't eat much quantity-wise. Still, he's never been sick, other than a few colds. He has incredible energy, is quick and smart and overall a great kid. Good luck, Magda
