Guest guest
Just wanted to thank you all for the support and advice over the last few days. We are new to bird mites and are really struggling. You gals gave me many good ideas and many new things to consider. I still cannot believe that in 2010 there is not more information regarding mite infestations......how can this be? How do we change that? Besides the spraying, we are following the shaninspirations protocol and have added a few things of our own. I am allergic to sulfa based drugs (septra and cipro) but I am willing to at least try sulfur topically at this point....I am thinking that perhaps applied to the skin I may not have a severe reaction. I will ask the infectious disease gal about this on Monday. I also wanted to ask how contagious do you all consider this to be? We've had symptoms for nearly 14 weeks. Our enviornment is improved but not perfect and the car is still terrible along with my scalp. Because I look like something out of an alien world (no hair and white scars everywhere I had mite bites) I have been avioding most folks. I go to the health club (and wipe down every single thing I come near, grocery store, etc. and drive my kids to and from school. Should we be pulling the kids out of school? They do not currently have active bites but every once and a while something pops up. My Mom wants to come down and stay for a month or two to help (in a separate apartment) but I am scared to death we will pass this to her. We are not using baby sitters at this point and we don't let the friends have kids in our house. But how long should we be living like this - because it feels like not living at all??!!!! The few things that have worked for us - methol crystals, vicks vapor rub (of all the things), borax, Xtreem Clean, ivermectin (although we get relief we then reinfect in our house so we don't currently take it as I am afraid of toxicity issues with all the perm and iver my husband and I (not kids) took). Please advise. All the best!
