Guest guest
Hi Jo, Just want to tell you that I can relate to your frustration. Our Prius still gives us prickles and bite-like things after 18months of regular CO2 treatments w/heat, windex, sterifab, vacuuming, eco-exempt, best yet, orange oil, orange cleaner in the rug doctor, and several other types of treatments with pesticides early on in this misadventure. I think it gets re-infested from work-clothing during the long commute back home.. Who knows! z3 > > I still need help with my truck. I had it cleaned, even had the carpet taken out and washed. I was doing pretty good. I sprayed with windex and with some of the orange plus alternating. Today I drove it and I was stinging by the time I made it home. No-seeums I guess. Have you any more ideas what I can do? I have a friend that said to gas them, I remember Bill saying this. My friend said that I could run a hose from the exhaust to the interior and let the truck run for about 30 min. > then air out? What do you guys think? Not sure I would know how to do this but I need to get them out? Give me some ideas please. >
Guest guest
We did try the toxic route also... we just didn't get lucky with it. > > > > > > > > I still need help with my truck. Guest guest
I vacuumed my car every few days when I was having problems. I used the big vacuum cleaner at the gas station. They have them at car washes too. > > I still need help with my truck. I had it cleaned, even had the carpet taken out and washed. I was doing pretty good. Guest guest
Hi Jo-bt (sp? ) Attrition works : The exhaust might help , but it didn't kill florida water bugs I had in a car years ago, it is smelly & dirty exhaust too . shan at her blog said de on the carpets & nylar & then burn 1 teasp of menthol crystals in a coffe warmer , menthol crystals make anything take off & flee , in this case thru the de & nylar . c02 gas kills the live ones not the eggs . it is good to wipe out many bugs in 3-8 hrs , then air out well with windows & doors open. for 3-8 hrs. I sat on plastic 9X12' drop cloths form dollar store over the seat which I powdered with borax . also a & h carpet fresh helps , then vac out . again it is attrition they are drawn to the front seat so I spray it daily w/ 1/3. cup borax ,too poison them 1/3. cup epsom to lock them into the glaze 2 tbls cococnut oil to smother & stick them in the oil 48 oz of hot water , it arrests them instantly & lasts 1 day , then more hatch , but less & less. In all my unused cars I have powder borax in & on everything , first under the seats then , I pour 2 handfulls of borax in a leave blower air intake & shoot it into the car like a cyclone , if I need to drive the old cars I spray it with the above mix which locks down the borax powder so I don't breathe it. If my car gets buggy I soak the seats & floor with 1 cup borax , 1 gal water & 1 cup liquid. spick n' span , then wet vac it out & use a hair dryer set in the car overnite to dry it well , then the new a & h carpet fresh w/ oxy in it . Mentol crystal are great to make them flee thru borax or de nothing can stay in the fumes, they come out of hiding & they run, thats when the powders kills them , otherwise they avoid powders . The gas works , but the eggs are still hatching constantly . Some use nylar growth regulator, Shan used it & said it worked great here is her posts, she is very helpful , you should read it , her & her family beat them, in her environment in 2 months, she said. http://www.shanspirations.org/?p=112 God bess you, Bill On Wed Jul 21st, 2010 7:29 PM EDT jo_btc wrote: >I still need help with my truck. Guest guest
That sounds like it would work well. Quite a bit of work involved, but it all makes sense to me. With this approach it is not a one shot deal because of the hatching constantly of eggs. Attrition is the key. Good job Bill or whoever came up with this approach. I also used the hand held steamer on seats and rugs. Gets powerfully hot and I believe that does kill eggs too. Re: Still need help with car! Guest guest
Jo, Frequent vacuuming helps our cars too... It works best for us if we vacuum immediately AFTER we have been in the car for a while, so the invisible pests are out and about. The other things that have helped to reduce the numbers are: -Washing the fabric surfaces and also the seat belts with the Rug Doctor with Orange Plus and de-foamer after vacuuming them -Steam clean all leather seats after vacuuming -Windex for the windows -Armor for the vinyl surfaces -Steri-fab for the entire interior after vacuuming, but it does cause discoloration and a permanently wore appearance due to the huge alcohol content in it. We have spent a full day each week sanitizing our home and cars for more than a year. Things are better, but not good enough yet. It is a lot of work. But toxic chemicals and heat did not do it for us. I think the Sterifab may be a bit toxic and it does help a lot in the places we can use it... but it cannot be fogged and is limited in it's uses. Orange Plus works well, so does hydrogen peroxide mixed with vinegar and alcohol in equal parts. What ever is bugging us keeps building up again in the house and car somehow. Just last week we found another blood fill microscopic mite in the house. ???!!! I doubt we have any more bird's nests or rodents, but perhaps our dog or cat may bring in new mites perhaps... They done ever scratch much though and they have been on advantage drops 2 times a month for 18months. The good news is that I think Steri-fab almost completely rid my office of them after about 12 weeks of soaking all surfaces weekly. I no longer need to treat it anymore. Let us know how it goes for you, z3 > > > > >I still need help with my truck. I had it cleaned, even had the carpet taken out and washed. I was doing pretty good.
