Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I haven't had what you describe, but have dealt with birdmites (I think) for about a year, and on a few occasions have had areas of shiny looking skin that is a little crepe-y. For me, this occurred mostly on my chest and neck. What worked for me was to apply apple cider vinegar to my skin in the shower, let it sit there, then rub it in and rinse it. At the very least it gently exfoliated the shiny skin, but it seemed also to help with bites. It is pretty harmless to try and it might give you some relief. It is also easy to use on the scalp. wishing you good luck with this, Noreen From: sandy e <ellis.sandy1@...>bird mites Sent: Thu, July 22, 2010 6:47:01 PMSubject: More questions about mites I hope my last message that was my first post was not to confusing. One thing I would like to know my skin does not have any sign of mites only pimples on my back these came up about four months ago.And the skin on my legs is different it is almost like it is thicker so that the hair cannot grow out in most places.I have some course hair and some that just gets to the surface and does not get through the skin. You can see some of these barely sticking up but not infected. I do pick at them trying to pull them through and I know this looks bad to a dermatalogist. I have also gotten some of those round places that you see on older people but these are have a brown border. My MD and also surgeon have said it looks like a fungus but the dermatologist said it was not.I saw all kinds of things in my hair that I didn't have any idea that it was there. I had ask my husband to get me some lice shampoo and I had not seen the little nit comb in the box. There were two people here working on the house that saw this but I went to comb my hair with that nit comb and there were two black things that came out. I had been washing it and then brushing and pulling it up. I was over due a hair cut so I was getting by for awhile. I went into the bathroom and hung my head upside down and cut it off. I still could not get a comb through areas of my hair. This made things feel worse. I cut more off the next day and used thinning shears. This was when I saw so many of those white things and there were some brown things also. Now I just have sore spots in my scalp. It is hard to leave these alone. I tried some lindane shampoor and lotion and it seemed to help.I don't know if this steroid cream will make things worse in the long run. Please let me know if anyone has skin like this on there legs.If I use DMSO it helps to remove some skin and iodine helps when things feel real bad. Please anyone that can advise please, sandy
Guest guest
Collect up the stuff that comes out of your hair and off your skin and bring it to the dermatologist if possible and then sent it to an entomologist for ID in alcohol. > > Hi Sandy, > I haven't had what you describe, but have dealt with birdmites (I think) for > about a year, and on a few occasions have had areas of shiny looking skin that > is a little crepe-y. For me, this occurred mostly on my chest and neck. > What worked for me was to apply apple cider vinegar to my skin in the shower, > let it sit there, then rub it in and rinse it.
