Guest guest
You have found a place on this site where EVERYONE can relate to the trauma you are experiencing. I wish that no one ever had to experience this!!!!! I wish so much that we could just have our house burnt to the ground and even then I would be afraid to rebuild on our property. If you can get an entomologist to come to your house that may be very helpful. Be sure to get one that is educated about biting mites of various kinds. Did you say you have mice??? Are they your pets or wild? Either way, I would get rid of them ASAP. Have you had pest control come out yet to do an inspection for rodents, birds, and mites? They may be helpful. Fumigation for bird/rodent mites must be at 10 times the concentration of vikane used as compared to termites. It is illegal in CA. Don't know what state you live in. Usually pest companies spray and fog instead in CA. Some folks have been helped by pest control companies. We tried several in our areas and none of them were able to eradicate the bird mites. Here are some things that did reduce the number of mites for us: Vacuuming every surface in our home and spraying and scrubing everything (especially the ceiling) with Orange Plus Concentrate or Bleach solution or Windex or Lysol. We wear respirators and protective gloves and clothing. We do this as often as possible. For the laundry: We wash all laundry w/BioKleen Premium Plus laundry detergent on the highest heat and Iron everything we can after it is dry. Other detergents including Arm & Hammer and Borax and other BioKleen detergents didn't work as well for us. We sprayed our entire bed frame with Steri-fab and it killed everything on it. We enclosed the mattress in thick viscueen plastic and sealed the edges with duct tape. We use indoor/outdoor carpet tape and tape all the way around our platform bed frame. We can usually go about 1 week before having to change the sheets. We experience no activity at all at night unless we bring something into the bed on our bodies by accident. when we do change the sheets, we tape the entire plastic mattress cover before putting on clean sheets. we got rid of everything we own that we could possibly live without. Everything else is on plastic costco tables in plastic clear bins. The tables have carpet tape all around them and around the legs too. We use a stream cleaner on as many things as often as possible and use the Rug Doctor with Orange Plus on as many things (the cars) as possible. It's been about 19 months, we are EXHAUSTED, but there is much less mite activity in the house now. Still, every little bite is a bummer and some of them do hurt when in the wrong place. The prickles are the worst! z3 > > First off I am not sure I fit the birdmite symptoms but here is how thin woulgs got started. > We built a new house that was two years old last Dec. I would see all kinds of things and mostly then it was fuzz balls that would be hard and almost sharp. AFter I had the illestomy reversal I left this house for a few weeks. I thought the house was causing all my problems. I went to a friends that also changed my dressing I bought a couple of outfits and after wearing them more than once I would feel liket there insulation inthem. It was the worst around my knees. My daughter came and got me and I stayed with her a week. > This feeling never got better. So I figured it was me not the clothes. I could not find anything that fit these symptoms. I was almost ready to fread out. I did come back home and with all the subfloor up there were these black things in the nail holes. Every mornng there are very small red dots on our sheets and some brown ones these are to small to make out with the small miscroscope that I have. Sometimes I can see these black specks land on top of my clothes and I to start washing again. My back is broke out with pimples and I find more and more black things. I don't know what to do. We have ordered different sprays and I use the arm and hammer and spray walls and ceilings with it. I can never get even the small bathroom floor clean because as soon as I do there will be more black things in the grout. We have mice and live near some silos, there have been not been used in years. Two birds that got into the garage and banged there brains out but that was the first summer we lived here. Please give advice. There is probabley more but I can't think right now. My fingers are pitted with black specks under the nails. The dermatologist said he could see my skin but all I saw was him wearing some glasses that looked like they were for night vision. Is that typical and I am just behind on what Drs do. He prescribed some steroid cream to help with inflimmation. Is there any hope? We have so many insects that I am afraid if we spend the $7500 to fumigate it will not last. I feel worse with this than the cancer. I would pay for a entamologist to come here but there are not any except one at the university. Sosrry to rant but I am so desperate. > > Thank you, > Sandy >
Guest guest
Hi Sandy bA psoter named skf at topix scabie forum had a lot of the symtoms you had. after 2 years of no cure & tons of permitheri & poisons she found that a bath in arm & hammer powdered laundry soap , 1 cup per bath & a 15-30 min soak killes all of it. I tried it it works wonders to kill the bug. She als found thet 1 cup per galon of awter in a garden sprayed killed them in evironmrnt. Guest guest
We sprayed our entire house with Arm & Hammer upon the suggestion from this site and it did absolutely nothing for us... We were so though that it was hard to believe. So I would try a little section of the house first in case it is a waste of time as it was for us. Most things we have done have at least helped a small amount. z3 > > >First off I am not sure I fit the birdmite symptoms but here is how thin woulgs got started. > >We built a new house that was two years old last Dec. Guest guest
Hi Sandy You are at the right site , Bessie had simalr problems , so did rita & many others. Black specks , the fiberglas feeling on the skin & clothes. I too have felt the fiber glass feeling, the biting , & burning feeling on the skin. Most all have been cured here , I have been here for 3 years. Rush said a white bug attacked her , she used anu water at $6. per day for 4 months or so. Rita used chemicals to rid her house of them Tempo sc from home depot. Bessie used peroxide in vaporizers in every room .She also used other things. epsom salts 1 cup in 1 cup of water poured on the skin is very, very hlepful , I used it 3 cups of water & 1 cup of epsom , it made them run. I sprayed everything with it. It dries like a glaze on all and even pennies on the floor are locked in its powerfull glaze after a few coats. Epsom is a deterent , they say if epsom is placed around garbage cans racoons that will come will not return after they contact the epsom. it is harmelss & painless , there is a little burn on open mite holes on the skin, but it vanishes .Many many posters used it & had great results. A bath in 1 cup borax & 1/4 dawn for 30 mins will soak out bugs , it takes time but works. I wear cowboy boots always . the bug cannot bite thru the leather . I use rubberboots with 2 tbls borax & 2 cups of water in the rubber boots after a shower for 30 mins to make sure my feet are clear of the bug & atheletes toenail. I stopped wearing boots 2 years ago a my feet became infested , I picked up some wierd crawling fungus or? , borax in water was the only thing that would arrest it , it took 60 days 2 times per day soaking my feet , hands & privates in the borax 1/2 cup per 3 gallons of water . , it worked & cured it .. Praise God ! .. I was about to freak from this strange crawilng of that particular fungus or what ever. , it felt like a dollar bill being slid up my leg, not like the mites that feel like they walk Coconut oil 2 tbls in a bath & soak for 30 mins has stopped crawling for 185 days Bill On Fri Jul 23rd, 2010 2:45 AM EDT wrote: >What state are you located in? > >On Fri Jul 23rd, 2010 12:29 AM EDT Zoe wrote: > >>You have found a place on this site where EVERYONE can relate to the trauma you are experiencing. Guest guest
The cancer didn't scare me. I had all the symptoms for a year with rectal bleeding. I had a brother drop dead a couple of years ago. Other than my daughter and husband he was all the family I had. I loved him so much and when I found out I had this rectal tumor I thought I would get to see my brother. My daughter is grown and lives a couple hundred miles away. My husband does not communicate and so I felt like I would see my little brother he was 49. This was the most traumatic pain I have ever known. I did every therapy there is and I do need therapy now because I know emotions are what makes us sick. I also have lyme dx and it was years before I had a dr that listened to me about the fatigue and did tests. I take a stimulant or I could not stay awake to do anything. So when I had to do radiation to reduce the tumor and then the chemo was pills and I thought with my history it would really put me down. Well it didn't and then I had not been told that I would need a temporary illestomy until I went to schedule the surgery. That was rough!!! I did surgery just fine but the ostomy was awful. Raw skin, leaking, and all kinds of stuff. I was blessed with being able to have it reversed and that was done in March. The ostomy I can't compare to this but cancer was not bad with surgery and treatment. I had been a holostic person for years and had thought I would never do any of these things but then you don't have a lot of time to decide what to do. My skin is something I had never known could feel things like it has. It is some better but when I wore pants and felt something like insulation in them I was scared and didn't know what to do. I could not take a bath until the ostomy healed and the surgeon left the opening open so it could be packed. That was a surprise but my white count was so low he almost would not do the reversal. I quit eating because if I ate then I had the bag to deal with. Now I can't eat with these black things that just fall down around me. I get a panic and have to take a tranqualizer because I cannot find a place to sit and our bed is in the sunroom since the place is under construstion. I have been doing baths that I read about with boraic acid and peroxide and then the arm and hammer. I sometimes add epsom salts it will often make me feel some bad things when I get out and dry off. I wondered about this cream because I think it is keeping these critter in me. I do have a hard time not trying to dig something out. But I have black specks that just show up. I din't get pimples until I started taking baths. We live on a farm with horses and I did do a lot of flowers and these were my therapy. I have not been outside but maybe a couple of times all summer. My clothes are ruined. I can't wear a bra and I havea lost weight and use most of my energy mopping the area we sleep in and washing the sheets. I take about three baths a day and will be in the tub for every. I sleep in the same thing because it does not feel prickly. It is getting shot and clothe are something that scares me. They will get these balls that look like normal but in the balls are things that feel like throns. I can't get the floors clean no matter what I do. We have tons of insects. The other night our backporch was loaded with insects and the garage door was up no lights were on and it was like a bucket full of insects. My husband works nights and he called it a hatching. The man working on our floors has never seen anything like this. It was a dairy farm and there was a lagoon that was filled in across the fence. We have never lived where there was so many insects and the mice are on going. I don't know how to deal with them. My husband can't take care of all this. I use to drive the tractor and bushog and loved it now I am afraid to go out in the grass. I have used chemicals that I would have never believed I would. If we don't do something like the fumigation then the furniture we have will be destroyed by the powder post beetles in it. We have somethings that are very old and were in the family. So I know we can't give them up. I wish I knew what the insects were for sure that do this. I have tried to find a entomoligist to pay to come here but there are only the ones at UT I am in TN and then the ones in Nashville. I have taked to them and they are not very nice. I can send samples but these things are so small. I have sprayed with the arm and hammer doing the ceilings and it helped for right then but we must have had these for as long as we lived here. Our house is 2400sf and I think something is in the attic but none of the pest companies will call me back even the ones we have paid alot of money. I think it is going to take something big to do this. We have other insects inside all the time. I washed the walls with arm and hammer and then black specks would show up when the walls got wet. We have to paint because there is so much damage to them when they took up the flooring and doing all this trim work. I wanted to see if I could do all I could before any painting was done. I have even used a steamer on the walls and these specks show up. I can go a few days and not do anything and go back and they show up again. We could not sell this with having 6 horses. We bred them for me to have something to try and do at home. They are a rare breed. I never go to the barn and we have new foals I have never touched this hurts much. I am also very alone without any support. Thanks and sorry to be so long. Guest guest
I can't help but feel that you might benefit from Dr. Staninger's approach to getting in control of this Morgellons Sandy. I don't know if your intestines could handle a colon cleanse. BUT, I think it would help, even if you were holistic for many years, we can have colon dysbiosis/problems in the colon pre-existing cancer. I had late stage cancer too 11 years ago with surgery - uterine - bleeding terribly. I also have dx'd Lyme Disease/CFS/fibro and so does my husband. Those diseases by themselves tell me the body is in bad shape. I could so relate to your story. I have a younger brother with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage IV and a sister with lung cancer, stage IV. And I strongly believe in an afterlife, BUT, I want to live fully while here... enjoy every moment, feel my feelings and not give up... if not for myself, but for my grandchildren and husband and kids -- the Morgellons and Lyme might not be completely curable and maybe they can be, who knows, but in the process we can get much healthier and live more fully. I'm so sorry to hear all the hardships this has caused you with the surgery/ostomy and all the difficult body problems you have. I've got them too and still struggling with them, diabetes too. So many health problems too. I've done the colon cleanse twice (Happy Tummy) purchased through Healing Grapevine, Dr. Staninger's website and it helped a lot. Also have done many hours of the FAR Infrared Rainbow which helps with detoxification processes. Dr. Staninger's whole trip is about detoxing. She is a toxicologist and knows a lot about toxic substances and body issues related to that. I'll start her protocol again when I return from Europe trip September 1. In the meantime I have family here from Boston for a week, so will write more later. Guest guest
Sandy Honey. You guys need to move from this home. Your health is a stake here. What you describe sounds very serious. This piece of property that you are on, sounds like it will take years before everything is cleared out. I don't think you have the energy or health to deal with all this. Maybe consider moving into an inexpensive home in the suburbs. That way, it will be much easier on you. There was another woman I know that lived in a cabin in the woods and had a really terrible mite. She had 5 small dogs and they did all the treatments, but, because they lived in the woods, they just couldn't get rid of this. They soon moved into a home in the suburbs and we didn't hear from her again. I can only assume, she was able to clear her family of this plague, once she moved. My husband can't take care of all this.I use to drive the tractor and bushog and loved it now I am afraid to go out in the grass.I have used chemicals that I would have never believed I would. If we don't do something like the fumigation then the furniture we have will be destroyed by the powder post beetles in it.We have somethings that are very old and were in the family. So I know we can't give them up.I wish I knew what the insects were for sure that do this.I have tried to find a entomoligist to pay to come here but there are only the ones at UT I am in TN and then the ones in Nashville.I have taked to them and they are not very nice.I can send samples but these things are so small.I have sprayed with the arm and hammer doing the ceilings and it helped for right then but we must have had these for as long as we lived here. Our house is 2400sf and I think something is in the attic but none of the pest companies will call me back even the ones we have paid alot of money.I think it is going to take something big to do this.We have other insects inside all the time. From: zmooks bird mites Date: Tue Jun 02 17:55:05 2009 We rented ours at a place called tates rentals. You should be able to find them rather easily at any equipment rental place. Or contact a dry wall company and see if you could rent theirs. You may also consider purchasing them used off of craigslist for cheap, then reselling them once you are done. I have looked on there from time to time and found the 155,000 btu ones for $60. There is a poster pdidit, who has just heated up her home for the first time this past weekend. After talking to her about it, it appears that we made heat treating a lot more difficult for ourselves than it needs to be. Instead of ducting the heat through, they put the heater and tanks directly inside the home. Guest guest
Hi Sandy,So sorry about this stress.I have been living in the country since I got this mite problem in Nov.2008..I kinda agree with Mel that living in the suburbs is maybe a good idea...I can't keep up with the bugs that come through here...The bugs just have a party over here no matter what i do...this place has cracks where they love to hide despite my best efforts...anyway i am moving soon as for me this place is useless...in terms of infestation...once again very sorry for Your troubles this is not fun...Hugs,Rose...When i go out in the woods i just get besieged with bugs..(being a bug magnet)...I am a country Girl but this is not worth it at all....Best of luck to You and prayers. From: Mel <iggydoll@...>bird mites Sent: Fri, July 23, 2010 12:03:58 PMSubject: Re: Re: Please help new here and need advice Sandy Honey. Guest guest
Also Sandy, I may have already told you this, but I'll repeat it. Buy some Cyonara from doyourownpestcontrol.com. Look for an insect growth regulator, like Nylar. Purchase these and mix the chemicals and spray away at all your baseboards, ceilings, around the outside of the home, everywhere. Air your home out, and continue with this. Call this company and see what else they recommend for you. They have some knowledgeable staff working on the premises. I used the Cyonara and nylar once once in my bedroom and didn't feel anything for a while in there. I use it mostly in my car. The heat treating of the home could help you, too. The propane heater costs about $350, plus you have to have a large propane tank, not the size of the bar-be-que ones, you need I think a 100 pounder. This is kind of hard to do, but if your husband is a hands-on type of guy, you can try it. You would have to do like one room at a time, by sticking the heater through a window, and then do another room, and so on. Once you have your home under somewhat control, you should use some miticides. That includes ivermectin and permethrin and/or benzyl benzoate. Mel From: sandy e <ellis.sandy1@...>Subject: Re: Please help new here and need advicebird mites Date: Friday, July 23, 2010, 1:50 PM The cancer didn't scare me.I had all the symptoms for a year with rectal bleeding.I had a brother drop dead a couple of years ago.Other than my daughter and husband he was all the family I had.I loved him so much and when I found out I had this rectal tumor I thought I would get to see my brother. My daughter is grown and lives a couple hundred miles away. My husband does not communicate and so I felt like I would see my little brother he was 49. This was the most traumatic pain I have ever known.I did every therapy there is and I do need therapy now because I know emotions are what makes us sick.I also have lyme dx and it was years before I had a dr that listened to me about the fatigue and did tests.I take a stimulant or I could not stay awake to do anything. So when I had to do radiation to reduce the tumor and then the chemo was pills and I thought with my history it would really put me down.Well it didn't and then I had not been told that I would need a temporary illestomy until I went to schedule the surgery. That was rough!!! I did surgery just fine but the ostomy was awful.Raw skin, leaking, and all kinds of stuff.I was blessed with being able to have it reversed and that was done in March. The ostomy I can't compare to this but cancer was not bad with surgery and treatment.I had been a holostic person for years and had thought I would never do any of these things but then you don't have a lot of time to decide what to do.My skin is something I had never known could feel things like it has.It is some better but when I wore pants and felt something like insulation in them I was scared and didn't know what to do.I could not take a bath until the ostomy healed and the surgeon left the opening open so it could be packed. That was a surprise but my white count was so low he almost would not do the reversal.I quit eating because if I ate then I had the bag to deal with. Now I can't eat with these black things that just fall down around me.I get a panic and have to take a tranqualizer because I cannot find a place to sit and our bed is in the sunroom since the place is under construstion.I have been doing baths that I read about with boraic acid and peroxide and then the arm and hammer.I sometimes add epsom salts it will often make me feel some bad things when I get out and dry off.I wondered about this cream because I think it is keeping these critter in me.I do have a hard time not trying to dig something out.But I have black specks that just show up.I din't get pimples until I started taking baths. We live on a farm with horses and I did do a lot of flowers and these were my therapy.I have not been outside but maybe a couple of times all summer. My clothes are ruined.I can't wear a bra and I havea lost weight and use most of my energy mopping the area we sleep in and washing the sheets.I take about three baths a day and will be in the tub for every.I sleep in the same thing because it does not feel prickly. It is getting shot and clothe are something that scares me.They will get these balls that look like normal but in the balls are things that feel like throns.I can't get the floors clean no matter what I do.We have tons of insects. The other night our backporch was loaded with insects and the garage door was up no lights were on and it was like a bucket full of insects. My husband works nights and he called it a hatching. The man working on our floors has never seen anything like this.It was a dairy farm and there was a lagoon that was filled in across the fence. We have never lived where there was so many insects and the mice are on going.I don't know how to deal with them. Guest guest
My 2 cents is i think You are treated more like a human being when You have cancer...(maybe)this disease has so many unknowns and family often thinks You are nutssssss!!!!I had the same feeling wishing i had cancer instead of this only because maybe you get a tad of sympathy....not sure...it's just a recycling thought I've had....and i certainly do not think cancer is easier it's just the way us mitey people are treated...Anyway I am very sorry anyone who has a disease has to suffer this garbage in addition....From: Lynn <torpedolynn@...>bird mites Sent: Fri, July 23, 2010 9:54:51 AMSubject: Re: Please help new here and need advice Sandy This is so aweful. Guest guest
Sandy, Check your air system. These black speck may be breeding and living in the air system. That would explain them appearing everywhere. Guest guest
I did order the Cyonara, The person I talked to was kind of young and didn't know anythng about using it for mites. He did check with someone and that said it would work. I wanted to get afogger and use something in it so that it would spray far off and do it in a mist but this guy said it was not recommended for a fogger. I got it this week and sprayed some ceilings and walls. It seemed to be a little more oiley and I have made a mess out of our walls but since the hardwood flooring is still being worked on we are going to have to do something about the walls. Do you use it and not get streaks? I can use a hose end sprayer outside and I plan on getting the garage ceiling good when the trim and equipment is out of the way. I have to do this when my husband is not home. He brings in so much mess and I don't know how I am going to manage this. If we do the heat I read on here that someone had there flooring warp. If that was not a concern I would be starting it asap. Thanks for any help. Oh! the company said that the only thing they recommended was some aersol. We have been using a lot of Talstar. Guest guest
Sally, I think you might be right. We hired a company to come and clean the duct work but that was before the flooring was down. BUT my husband had not been cleaning the filter regular and I have been spraying and steaming it so the paint had come off the metal frame. He took that off and also a trim piece that the metal attaached to. When I saw it the there was so much lint and all kinds of dirt that was between this frame piece and the sheet rock. This was just a few days ago so maybe it will help. I used every spray we had in jugs while my husband painted the grill piece. I wish there was a way to use sulfur in a spray in some places. I have some garden sulfur that says wettable but it looks a little coarse for a pump sprayer. I actually burned sulphur inside the house back in the winter. My uncle that is in his 90s told me people used to do that so I did it. I did searches and found a lot of pot growers burning sulphur I didn't know if it was real unhealthy and I had to stay in the house while I burned it. I didn't think it smelled bad. I also felt some relief that was short lived. Thanks for the idea, Sandy > > > > > > First off I am not sure I fit the birdmite symptoms but here is how thin > >woulgs got started. > > > We built a new house that was two years old last Dec. Guest guest
I am all the time telling my husband that I am leaving he just ignores me. He loses his temper and has put his fist through the sheet rock. I would live in a camper if the camp grounds didn't cost so much. I don'twork and most of this farm was built with inherted money. So it is not like we have that type of income. I don't know what fun is like anymore. We do have 6 horses we have to think about. It would feel so good to wake up and be able to think about something fun. I live in TN near the Smokey Mts and also near a lake. But it is a 10 acre horse farm and I don't know if there would be a market for something like this. If you know a camp ground near a beach I think each day about just leaving and drivng to a beach to live. I don't want responsibilty like this anymore. I do love my horses but I will not go out to the barn. If anyone knows a clean safe place near a beach let me know. I could live in my truck if I could just take a shower. Guest guest
Hi Sandi. Did you ask about an insect growth regulator? That will help keep the bugs from multiplying (or growing into egg laying adults). It's important to mix with the others you are using. very important. That's how I got rid of fleas on my dog and roaches in my home, through insect growth regulators. I had thought all a long that these were what was bothering me .> > > We set up a bed in our sunroom that joins the kitchen and have been iving in there. Every mornng there are very small red dots on our sheets and some brown ones these are to small to make out with the small miscroscope that I have. I found a mass of insects and those white things all in my hair. I cut if off myself and the hair that came off was full of brown things plus the white my daughter thought looked like soap powder.> > > I finaly went to a dermatologist and he said the skin has menory and gave me a steroild cream. He did tell me to keep black things I would find on my skin.> > > I have been collectinmg them but here are my questions.> > > Can a mite do any damage to fabric in minor ways like break threads and can there ever be a grit like substance that they may hapove?> > > There are black things all over this house they are in the flooring and even the tile. I don't see them move but there ares some others in the window that do and they are not clover mites.> > > I wash the floors daily and also the sheets. Black specks will fall right in front of me. I get so scared because I home a lone almost all the time.> > > I have had toget rid of almost all my clothes.> > > There would be prickly things in them and Icould not get them washed out. > > > I have sent samples to our extension office but he didn't help with the other samples and I reported him to someone.> > > So far we have spent over 2500 having companies spray but this was mostly for beeltes. If we fumigate with a tent it will cost us 7500 and we have spent so much on rework due to the bad contractor.> > > > > > I store what is left of my clohes in bags and then in totes. Is that typical and I am just behind on> what Drs do. He prescribed some steroid cream to help with inflimmation. Is there any hope? We have so many insects that I am afraid if we spend the $7500 to fumigate it will not last. I feel worse with this than the cancer. I would pay for a entamologist to come here but there are not any except one at the university. Sosrry to rant but I am so desperate.> > > > > > Thank you,> > > Sandy> > >> >>
