Guest guest
Jess - Wish I had a dollar for every time a dermatologist told me that black things coming out of the skin was " normal " . It is not. My first thought is that the specks and threads are fungal in nature, especially since they seem to come out with sulfur. Go to Home Depot and buy a mold test kit. Put your samples in there and send them off. If it is fungal in nature, they will be able to identify it. I did this, and it came back as cladosporium mold and 2 types of yeast. I had a mold-filled showerhead at the beginning of my ordeal that infected my entire body. Since I had discovered that, I had my showerheads changed out, but I'm still fighting the skin mold, which is WAY WAY better... This is the first step I would take. Do not take the anti-depressents. Yes, you are anxious because you don't know what's wrong with you or how to fix it, and the doctors don't believe you have anything wrong. Once you figure this out, you will be be better. Hope this helps. > > I have been diagnosed again and again with delusions of parasitosis. > It's been 3 doctors, 2 dermatologists, and my psychiatrist. Guest guest
Jess Agree antidepressants are every doctors answer it seems. When so sick with lyme and not being tested i was given cymbolta and sent home. Later to find out I was positive for lyme disease. I agree with lint that this is related to fungus and mold to. I am sorry the medical establishment has turned its back on another suffering. > > > > I have been diagnosed again and again with delusions of parasitosis. > > It's been 3 doctors, 2 dermatologists, and my psychiatrist. Guest guest
Jess - How your doc determined these were " synthetic " fibers without testing them is beyond me. What I considered that were " fibers " were really chains of fungus/mold, as this is the nature of the cladosporium species when they grow. If you do have collembola (which may be likely), they are simply attracted to this mold, if that is what it is. I, too, had the same issue. When I got the mold and yeast on my skin severely reduced, I was no longer an attractant for these bugs. If it is really mold, do you know the source of the infection? You should probably check your showerheads. In addition, look for other mold sources. When I took my showerheads off and dipped them in bleach, mounds of mold poured out of them. If you focus on getting rid of the fungus/mold, the bugs will eventually go away. They did for me. The treatments on this forum for the environment and body were very good. The other thing you need to focus on is boosting your immune system. My immune system was severely suppressed last year. My husband and I showered in the same shower, yet I got severely infected and he did not. He got a little itchy and fixed the itch with some anti-fungal shampoo.... like I wish I could have recovered just by doing that! > > > > > > I have been diagnosed again and again with delusions of parasitosis. > > > It's been 3 doctors, 2 dermatologists, and my psychiatrist. Guest guest
Hi lintFunny you should post about water. I was just doing some laundry and I had a new white laundry basket. I rinsed it out in kitchen sink with hot water. Immediately an film seemed kind of oily with black specks coverd the the bottom of the basket. I had noticed this same film in my kitchen sink. I had to use liquid dish soap to get it off the basket, same with sink. Do you think it's mold. Guest guest
Sorry for all of the posts, but Jess, your situation exactly matches mine I, too, would get a lot of stinging in my arms, legs, everywhere. When I would rub in some of Trish's ESP lotion bar, a black thread or speck would pop out there. The mold was growing uncontrollably in my skin which is what was causing the stinging sensations, in my opinion. My immune system was not working to hold any of it back. Once I got much of it out, things were much, much better. I had to really clean up my environment to prevent it from re-infecting me, because the mold spores on my skin were all over my environment because of me. This is also what made people itch when they would get near me. > > > > > > > > I have been diagnosed again and again with delusions of parasitosis. > > > > It's been 3 doctors, 2 dermatologists, and my psychiatrist. Guest guest
Anti depressant help me deal with it. It didn't make the problem go away. If they make you feel better and stronger i would stay on them. On Sun Jun 20th, 2010 2:26 PM EDT lintbugs_too wrote: >You could always buy one of those Home Depot test kits to find out! Guest guest
Thank you for your post, lintbugs_too, and thank you for sharing that information about the fibers. I have recently experienced a decrease in fibers and prickles probably because I moved out of the apartment where I used to live (I lived in a 16-story, 100+ years old Manhattan building that was not being properly taken care of.) The place was not expensive and most bathroom floors had caked mold that had accumulated there for YEARS. I began to clean the tiles and the space between them, which was black with mold. I used white distilled vinegar, borax, orange plus from earth friendly products, Dr Bronner's salt suds, baking soda and other soaps to do this, and yet it was a constant battle because the very next day (or even the very next hour) the mold would start all over. One day that I missed cleaning would allow a whole colony to thrive somewhere in the bathroom. They even started breeding in the ceiling with a yellow cover similar to glue and also covered themselves with a white layer that was hard and resisted soaps and scrubbing, just like hardened paint. The (very old) bathroom was designed in a way where there was hardly any ventilation, so after showering it would remain hot and damp for a long time, allowing mold to thrive. Same thing with the wooden floors. Whatever these parasites are, they also thrived in wood and I'd notice that they would invade furniture and floors, mostly by sticking to the darker spots of wood, turning them even darker, and when I'd wash them off with water, soap and borax, I'd find small canals made by the little f*ckers. I'm not sure why exactly I have felt this decrease in prickles, but it might be because I moved hundreds of miles away ( I'm currently in northern Mexico) and I'm staying with relatives. Their bathroom has very good ventilation and the water doesn't just stay there, the floor is steep so that the water will go down the drain. I have one bathroom for myself, so I shower once a day and then the bathroom has time to dry, whereas in Manhattan I had to share with another 2 roomates, so it was damp for longer and more often. I've also been applying 10% sulfur ointment on my skin. I am not entirely free of fibers yet, and some things really make me wonder what on earth these things are. Like, they jumped off me onto the shower curtain the minute I got into the shower at my relatives house, and suddenly the white liner had a bunch of small dots that weren't there before. I wonder if they will survive here? Can they survive any environment even if dry most of the time? I'm also showering with cold water. Not super cold, but as cold as I can handle it. I read somewhere that when your body is hot and damp, it is the best environment for them to hatch, so I try to shower fast and cold. And yet I still see signs of them. The rod that holds the shower curtain didn't seem to have any rust in it when I first came in, and yet suddenly it's turning all rusty! It started from the side I get out of the shower. It's starting to scare me because this is my aunt's house, and I don't want to turn it into a moldy, fiber infested dumpster. Do you have any ideas on how to rid her bathroom of any mold that might be starting to breed? I try to keep it as dry as possible, but that might not be enough. By the way, are you free from fibers already? Whether you are, or whether you've made some progress, what has been your technique? I am currently doing Vitamin C, Magnesium, garlic and MSM tablets, 10% sulfur ointment, selsun blue shampoo, New Hope 2 sulfur soap, epson salts, baking soda, sea salt. I am also trying to cut on sugars and carbs, although I'm still eating some milk in the form of yogurt to get some good bacteria. I try to eat lots of eggs and wash my clothes with Arm and Hammer Detergent, Borax and Epson salts. I also keep my clothes inside thick vinyl and put moth balls inside. Do you have any advice on how to keep yourself and the environment free from this crap? I haven't checked my aunt's showerhead. If it's moldy, should I change it or just wash it regularly? These things are a real nightmare. I've been feeling my hands sore in the mornings after applying sulfur the night before. And upon applying more sulfur I see more and bigger fibers come out. My fingers are swollen at the middle, just like arthritis, and one of my feet gets very swollen too. Strange, but who knows.. Did you ever get tested for lyme? I was about to get that test, but it costed nearly $200, so I am wondering if I can find it for less elsewhere. I'm broke on top of everything, so my father has been paying for lots of stuff, but it's getting expensive. Last but not least, just a question I'm curious about: Do you take any prescription drug? I've been told that they might be involved in the entire morgellons/fungal infection thing, but I have no idea. I'm on Parnate and Adderall. My psychiatrist told me to stop the adderall and the prickles would go away, but I refused to and told him that if I had to choose between parasites and depression, I'd pick the parasites. Both are a nightmare, but depression is far worse in my experience, and it doesn't guarantee that the fibers will go away. Sorry, I know this is long, but just one last question: Are your fibers always black? One time I was wearing a red sweater, and that day I pulled a red fiber from the palm of my hand. And I've also seen some silver colored fibers, while I noticed that my silver covered makup was starting to have a strange peel off. Do these mold spores pick up fibers and materials from clothing or things and access the body with them? I find it strange that they will all come out with sulfur... just like scabies. They also come out if I submerge my hand in hot water mixed with epson salts and borax. Thanks a lot for the info! Guest guest
Jess adderol is for attention deficit disorder not depression. So it shouldn't affect depression one way or the otherSent from my iPhoneOn Jun 20, 2010, at 7:19 PM, jessnyc <helpnynow@...> wrote: Thank you for your post, lintbugs_too, and thank you for sharing that information about the fibers. Guest guest
To Rush: My doctor gave me adderall in order to augment Parnate, which is an antidepressant. He wants me to stop it because he thinks it is partly responsible for the delusions of parasitosis. One of the side effects of adderall is hallucinations, hence his assumption. Guest guest
Jess, one of the side effects of Adderall is formication. Search Adderall and formication and you will see why he suggested stopping it. Perhaps you can ask him for any alternative drugs, like Adderall, to augment the Parnate that do not cause this effect. Stopping the Adderall maybe one way to rule out DOP. B > > > > Jess adderol is for attention deficit disorder not depression. Guest guest
Jess - Do > you have any ideas on how to rid her bathroom of any mold that might be starting to breed? I try to keep it as dry as possible, but that might not be enough. I bought an ozone generator, which was the quickest way to clean the air in my house. That might not be an option for you. It sounds like you are using the right cleaning products. What about dispersing essential oils into the air? Many oils will kill mold. I have not tried this yet. > By the way, are you free from fibers already? Whether you are, or > whether you've made some progress, what has been your technique? I am currently doing Vitamin C, Magnesium, garlic and MSM tablets, 10% sulfur ointment, selsun blue shampoo, New Hope 2 sulfur soap, epson salts, baking soda, sea salt. I am also trying to cut on sugars and carbs, If by fibers, do you mean the black mold? No. I still have a small amount still left. I take tons of supplements: Vitamin C (18-28 grams a day!), 5-htp, samE, a multivitamin, a bone and mineral formula, zinc, vitamin D, a detox formula, glycine, an energy and repair formula (with L-glutamine), omega3, borage oil, a probiotic, MSM, vitamin B12 shots (I learned that I am severely deficient), etc. I used to take a lot of different treatment baths. The new hope bath soak worked really well. I use the New Hope II soap and balm almost every day. I also use the DSP cream. I am on the anti-candida diet as well. I use 's tea tree oil shampoo and selsun blue for the hair. I have used the funga soap/endure 3000 combination to get the biofilm and mold out of the skin. I've also tried using ozonated olive oil along with the FIR sauna. Both of these work well. > but who knows.. Did you ever get tested for lyme? I honestly do not think lyme is part of my problems... but I could always be wrong. I may address this in a few months. > Last but not least, just a question I'm curious about: Do you take any > prescription drug? I took one round of albenza, only because my doc scoped my stool and believed there to be some casings and a larva there. So, I took one round, and had some die-off for 3 days into the meds. I do not intend to take anymore. My doc did not want to prescribe me any pharmaceutical antifungals due to the effects on the liver. She wants me to take some caprylic acid and some essiac tea for the mold issue. I do take a drug that chelates out metal, since I've tested high in heavy metals. I only take this drug 2 times a week, so it's not that hard on the liver. I also take Welchol for high cholesterol. I take 5 htp and samE and glycine for my anxiety/depression. The natural stuff, along with my b12 shots, has been working well for me. > Sorry, I know this is long, but just one last question: Are your fibers > always black? Guest guest
Thank you, Marguerite! Which Shampoo do you use? I have not found the MSM one I don't think. I use the Tea Tree oil one and the Lavendar one and rotate. I've tried the Biotin one, but I don't like it as much as the other two. I've had dry scalp and dandruff for years. This all went away when I started using the shampoo. I guess the chemicals in the other stuff I was using was not good for my scalp. -lintbugs ... aka " gigi22 " .. I really need to find a way to change my username, as I don't suffer from the lint stuff anymore!! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been diagnosed again and again with delusions of > > > parasitosis. > > > > > > > It's been 3 doctors, 2 dermatologists, and my psychiatrist. Guest guest
Thanks so much, Marguerite, I wish the same for you and everyone here. Lately I've been doubting myself more than ever. I'm staying with family after I almost end up homeless due to depression and all my time/money spent on bug control. Everyone, family, doctors, etc, seem to think this is truly just a mental thing. Not a single person in my life sees this as real, even after seeing the fibers. They all say it's the type of clothes I wear.. just go figure, I wear regular clothes and probably more sweaters than others since I don't warm up easily. To the point I'm unconsciously trying to think its all in my head..and I can't stop taking adderall (with side effects of formication) because I get more depressed than ever, and I'd rather feel bugs than hit the bottom with depression. Finally got tested for lyme and will get the results in a week. I've been having all kinds of pain in my joints, especially hands and knees, and occasionally feet, so who knows.. that will be a big sign. Thanks for you concern and best wishes to you, Jess On 6/21/2010 11:01 PM, Marguerite wrote: > I think of you Jess, often and wish you and all of us a speedy > recovery from this mess. > > Marguerite
Guest guest
You are going to have to be very courageous. No one is going to believe you, but don't go into feeling like a victim if you can help it. I swear it makes things worse. The more we go into feeling like a victim, the more mentally we start to collapse. Maybe try some EFT - that helps with the mental aspects of this disease. It helps me a lot! If you don't know what it is, check it out on YouTube. Lots of good instruction videos. Re: Re: Has anyone tried antidepressants for morgellons? Thanks so much, Marguerite, I wish the same for you and everyone here.Lately I've been doubting myself more than ever. I'm staying with familyafter I almost end up homeless due to depression and all my time/moneyspent on bug control.Everyone, family, doctors, etc, seem to think this is truly just amental thing. Not a single person in my life sees this as real, evenafter seeing the fibers. They all say it's the type of clothes I wear..just go figure, I wear regular clothes and probably more sweaters thanothers since I don't warm up easily. To the point I'm unconsciouslytrying to think its all in my head..and I can't stop taking adderall(with side effects of formication) because I get more depressed thanever, and I'd rather feel bugs than hit the bottom with depression. Finally got tested for lyme and will get the results in a week. I'vebeen having all kinds of pain in my joints, especially hands and knees, and occasionally feet, so who knows.. that will be a big sign. Thanks for you concern and best wishes to you,JessOn 6/21/2010 11:01 PM, Marguerite wrote:> I think of you Jess, often and wish you and all of us a speedy> recovery from this mess.> > Marguerite
Guest guest
Jess, there are so many issues to discuss and my heart goes out to you, I have been there, I even let myself get admitted to the luni bin as an alternative to suicide at one time, knowing full well they call it DOP or worse actually, pretenting they believe me and shove pharmaceuticals down my throat, ' so you will not get so consumed by these things that you mention'..... to hell and back, yes, sometimes still hell and others I practice mental and spiritual discipline and come to this site. About the cold shower issue, please do not, they live and thrive in warm/moist, long sustained environment true, but the shower is running water, make it as hot a possible, if it does not kill them, at best you wash off the scent they like for a bit, I see or notice them more too and finally figured out, that they just get 'stirred' up and come out of YOU or ME, yes, also they are hiding in the shower curtain and around the drain and shower head of course, but please, warm/hot water, leather up and enjoy the moment. Just because you do not notice or see them, does not mean they are not there, they are just comfortably embedded in you skin folds etc., cozy slumber, then they stir again with certain stimulants, or get hungry or whattheheck. I look forward to blow drying my entire body, they hate it, moving air, the heat, plus it makes me war, always cold since this menace... Please, keep us posted....got to go, have night call this week and actually out til 3 am this morning then up again at 7, my routines are shoddy during this time, because one never knows and I must refrain to going full gusto with the masks, soaks etc in case I got to face the public. Where in Northern Mexcico are you, may I ask ? Hugs for now and please try to be strong, they are not going to kill you. please reduce the sweater situation, go athletic gear, layer a lot... Guest guest
Sending you healing thoughts Jess. Is there any alternative to Adderall for you to try instead? > > I think of you Jess, often and wish you and all of us a speedy > > recovery from this mess. > > > > Marguerite >
Guest guest
I went to the looney bin once. I mainly went for a break from it all; the bugs and the craziness. I was there for only three days but mainly it was a vacation. That was probably my biggest turning point. I basically started from scratch and stopped listening to what everyone was telling me and did what i thought i needed to do. I did take advice but i stopped regarding what people told me as commands. No one understands this disease completely. Who better than a patient of it though? I stopped complaining about it to everyone and took control of it. After i got my act together i told my parents about the cdc website and they believe me now. Guest guest
My mom flew to go to a doctors appointment with me. She proceeded to tell the doctor about the bugs and all the cleaning i was doing. I had never felt so betrayed by my own family. The doctor them told me about this great head doctor that was very open mined and that he was booked but they could get me in right away. I took the referral and my mom left and i never went. She came about two weeks after i had figured out it is m. On Wed Jun 23rd, 2010 1:18 AM EDT Goldstein@... wrote: >You are going to have to be very courageous. Guest guest
I don't know if you are willing but i tried the it's all in my head thing for a while. I thought just get me out of this hell and maybe this will work. That was when i checked into the mental place. It was my last time i had somebody tell me what to do. Of course the bugs didn't go away and they accused me of being annerexic and on drugs. Ha my bmi was normal when they looked it up and there were no drugs in my system. Being there i met people with real problems and kind of gained a new reflection of myself.
