If you was doing ok with the decreases before, I am betting that only going down 1mg every 2 week from 10 on down to zero is what might be needed. This will take a prescription from doc for 1mg pills though. I would be tempted myself to go back to where I felt fairly well at. Like if that was 10 I think I would be looking at that if it was me. Then see if can get in to doc sooner and see how the new one wants you to decrease. Boy switching doc's in the middle of a move must be a royal pain in the rump, huh? " I kinda extended a couple of times the two week intervals also while decreasing the prednisone. When had a lot of stuff going on and traveling and stuff that I thought might affect the old aches and pains along with other stuff, if you know what I mean " . Would maybe go 3 weeks before went down another 1mg notch. I think the long and " small increments of decrease in pred, helped things along. Guest guest
Lynn- No Problem. I try to stay away from mirrors and trying on clothes too. I am soo bad. I do alot of returning or if I find something that I feel comfortable in I just buy all the colors that they have. (smile) I just went to the Rhemy on friday afternoon and he upped my prednisone to 7.5mg a day and 25mg of MTX a week. He thinks that I am starting to have a little flare. SO we shall see if going up on the meds works. I am going to try to see a different Rhemy this week whom was highly recommended by the Rhemy that diagnosed me. So wish me luck. Keep smiling Love and support always, Keri IN CA Lynn D <ldudette@...> wrote: Keri, Thanks so much for your advice, I went back up to 10 yesterday and my pain was at a 9 this morning. Hugs from WI Lynn Dudenhoefer ldudette@... Re: Need advice-Lynn Lynn- You need to go back up a couple. When this would happen to me and it still does. I would go back up a couple and try again in a couple of weeks. I was on 10 for almost a year. My body would not let me go any lower. Now I am on 4 and my body won't let me go any lower. I've attempted to go to 3 twice and have failed. So for now I am on 4 but I will keep trying. Your weight will start coming off once you get to around 10. At least it did for me. I gained about 60 pounds from the time I was released from the hospital. And now I am about 20 pounds or so from my " normal " weight. But your health is so much more important then your weight. So low down , the swelling in your face will start to go away even on 10. I know how you feel, I was very anxious to get off the prednisone that I got myself put back in the hospital for going to fast. Then I had to start all over again. And that sucked. If you are having pain I am surprised that your Doc is telling you to keep going. That doesn't seem right to me. But that is just my opinion. Go back up to what you felt good at, or try 15 or 12mg and start dropping 1mg a week or even every 2 weeks and see how that works. That worked for me. Good luck and take care of yourself. Guest guest
Thanks Marilyn, I am much better now. Coming off the prednisone can really whack you out. I've got my mentals back so I can deal with the physical. Such a fun time! Lynn Lynn Ah geez Lynn, sorry to hear that you have been suffering emotionally as well as physically for a while now. I hope that the thought of suicide has passed and hopefully the adjusting of the medications will make your whole body sound once again. Take care, Marilyn The sun still shines ... although a cloud might be covering it, at some point, it too shall pass, leaving the sun to shine through once again...... ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Lynn D" I became suicidal a week ago and was out of control emotionally. I went to the psychiatrist and he adjusted my meds. I had just gone for 2.5 mg pred to zero also. My skin erupted and I am very stiff and sore. Feel like the flu also. After he upped my meds I felt better. He also gave me some Xanax, which takes effect in 20 minutes so that helped also. Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks Tricia, I am really doing awful and I just felt like I should not post much without a true STills dx. Caroline in England and I both feel the same and feel bad posting when they don't know what is wrong with us. Saw my regular doc yesterday and she is sending me to Marshfield to see a new female Rheumy that is supposed to be really good. I see a gasto guy next week as my reflux has been acting up and I am not ever supposed to have heartburn with my bad esophagus. I just hurt so bad right now and I am so frustrated. I need to work on my taxes. I owe about 1400 that I do not have. I am praying that my brother can convince my dad to send the money to me or I am in big trouble as I have none. Anyway, not to be a bummer, but I hope you are okay. Just got another book on chronic illness that deals with hope. I will let you know how it is. Luv ya Lynnie "Lynn" Hi Lynn, Sorry to hear you are flaring...but, glad to hear from you nonetheless! You were on my mind so much yesterday, as I haven't "seen" you on the site lately, and was getting concerend. Guest guest
Thank you Tricia and I have been keeping quiet for a while as I don't feel 'qualified' to give opinions. I am having a break from pursuing a diagnosis or even treatment. I'm feeling better in some ways, more mental than physical, but the abdo pain is back, which is frustrating and the fever remains. I have managed to cut back on the p'killers, though, so that's good. And I'm back to the occasional horse ride, which, for me, is more therapeutic than any pill. I have been referred to a new Rheumy, to whom I have written and await a reply. I shall hold off from seeing him for as long as possible. Love to you all. Guest guest
Kathy, Take the advice of the others and take it easy. Heck I got my ICD in September of 2005 and have not returned to work since. Find something to keep your mind busy even if it is trying to top Bill’s jokes. Your body will tell you when it is ready to return to a full schedule. Joe Schmidt – retired 1999. God Loves Us All -----Original Message----- From: [mailto: ]On Behalf Of Kkiefer440@... I dont want to have set backs so guess I will try to enjoy the time I have at home before going back to work. Guest guest
I think I recognize you from lymebusters as well. I haven't been incredibly personalable in my posts, so I wanted to take the opportunity to be so. It is nice making your acquaintence over hear as well, and I do take the toxin issue a bit seriously, but don't let that put anyone off. I struggle like everybody else trying to find better health and beat these demons. I love talking with someone who is genuinely interested and just not interested in me having to tell them what to do or use. I am just not qualified and I feel no one knows about themselves better than they do. I had labs and etc., in which has led me down these paths I investigate. I am using my own experiences and my body reactions and such. I can only convey what I have found in the context of my own symptoms and experiences. Not everything I have been exposed to would be everyones experience here. And what works for one doesn't imply it will work for all. I just relate them incase some might find it helpful. I can come off strong sometimes, and I know that, but really, deep down, I am just as needy as the rest of us. I really think you are on the right path, I just worry, that we tend to get the mites and morgellons lumped into one and focus on morgellons more so than the mites. From my first experience, kill the mites, and the morgellons slowly improves as well as the corrections needed take time. Thanks for chatting with me.
