Guest guest
Hi, I use Flax seed oil daily. I also take Udo's daily. I am taking both because of my dry skin and dry hair. I have been reading the Udo Erasmus book on " Fats the heal, Fats the kill " and according to him the good fats not only help the skin to be healthy, the hair to grow and be healthy. Our brains to work better. Kids to grow better and develop their brains better. It helps us to lose weight. It helps to oxygenate the body better and helps the muscles to recover better. The good fats such as flax seed oil also help to get extra fat out of our bodies. Contrary to popular belief, it is important to increase the good fats if you want to lose weight. I used to be a low-fat person and couldn't get past my losing plateau. Now I take two tablespoons of oil a day. I take a combination of flax seed and Udo's Choice oil. Udo's has the evening primrose in it. It has the 3's, 6's, and 9's in it. If you just take the Flax seed only, then in about a year you will be deficient in the 6's and 9's, but when first starting out, Flax is the way to go until your skin is very soft. My father-in-law was having prostate problems, big time. I told him to start taking Flax seed oil, he opted for a teaspoon of olive oil instead. He commented that it helped him a lot and one of the things that he noticed is that his scalp is itchy like new hair is growing in. It is a good itch, like circulation is going there again. I also use an organic shampoo. Here is a post I wrote from the first time I used it. I had been doing a parasite cleanse and wanted to get the toxins from my shampoo out of me too. I had tried Rashelle's shampoo, and it is wonderful. But I wanted to go with something organic. This is something I wrote back in October on another list. My first experience with the Pure Gardens Shampoo was interesting. I was shocked to see it looked like Calamine lotion instead of like regular shampoo. I put it in my hair and tried to lather it up. I got some lather at first, then it just went away. That was also weird. I rinsed and tried to lather up again. Again, it lathered up a bit, not much for a brief bit, then nothing. So, I rinsed and decided I was done. I didn't use my conditioner as I usually do. I decided to give it every opportunity to work without adding conditioners. It felt very tangled up, but I let it go. I have a water filter in my home that softens the water and takes the chlorine out of it also. I dried my hair and curled it as usual. I lost a lot of hair combing my hair out this time and for about a month following. I mean a lot of hair. I was gentle in combing it out, it was as thought the root just let go and the hair fell out. I could run my fingers through my hair and get at least 30 hairs! Wet or dry. In fact, I called the distributor services to find out if I was going to go bald using this stuff from so much hair falling out! They said it was normal for some people to have this reaction, especially if doing the cleanse and rebuild cleanse. The thing about my first time using the shampoo was that I was heading to my parents home for the day. When I got there my mom commented on my hair and how nice it looked. These are virgin words out of my moms mouth! I have VERY difficult hair! It is baby fine and simply won't keep a style. I can spend hours fixing it, put every product under the sun on it to make it stay and in about an hour it looks like I just woke up and walked out the door without even bothering to comb it. I also found myself stroking my hair during conversation because it was so soft. I used the shampoo on my kids hair and it lathered up fine on them the first time. Like I said, my hair is difficult. I am on my second bottle. It now lathers on my hair pretty good. My hair is now really, really shiny and still very soft. I have never had shiny hair before. I actually like my hair for the first time in a long, long time. Maybe it will actually grow instead of breaking off! My kids hair is pretty and shiny. I ordered a whole case of it and am glad to be able to let people feel my hair! ~Karma http://loaves-n-fishes.com http://www.karma.awarenesshealth.com http://www.andale.com/gallery?cid=6262336 & mid=1 & pId=2 Message: 2 Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2001 02:31:11 -0000 From: pacifiof3@... Subject: Flaxseed Oil Hi everyone, I haven't been to the list or to Life Lift in ages and ages. But I am still doing my Life Lift breaths when I can. I have never had any outward results but I've always felt that the extra oxygen is helping inside and after a workout I feel energized and so much better! The reason for my subject line about flaxseed oil is that I am looking for anyone who is or was using flaxseed oil for thinning hair or any other reasons. Years ago someone on the Bodyflex list recommended it to me to use for losing my hair. I used it for a while, I feel it worked but after I while I stopped using it and either because of all of this wonderful breathing or my better eating habits ect. my hair doesn't seem to be falling out as fast. Thin hair on the woman's side runs in my family. Now my sister is 7 years younger than me (28 and has never had a baby) and her hair is falling out faster than mine and wants to know if she should try flaxseed oil. Any help or guidance on where to find more information would be helpful. Thank you.
Guest guest
I'm not familiar with that diet. I do know that the body will slow down metabolism if it doesn't have enough of the good fats, so be sure to keep an eye on that part of your diet. ~Karma http://loaves-n-fishes.com http://www.karma.awarenesshealth.com http://www.andale.com/gallery?cid=6262336 & mid=1 & pId=2 Re: Flaxseed Oil > Hi, > I use Flax seed oil daily. Our > brains to work better Hi Karma, Thank you for the reply. I did get out of the routine of taking the oil because I was really afraid it was keeping weight on me. I am on an internet diet plan called Nutrio.com and walking an hour a day and finally the weight is coming off again! Maybe when I'm back to the weight I want to be I'll start the oil again. I haven't noticed my hair falling out anymore. Thanks again, I'll send your reply to my sister.

Not sure how to actually use these boards, hope I'm responding back correctly. I just deleted everything that I didn't want in the reply. Anyway I think Nutro.com is a lot like the ediet.com and some others I've come across. They do all the calorie counting for you and it's based on lots of fruits, nuts, soy, fish, and of course veggies. I just love the plan. Wouldn't be eating half the veggies I should be if I wasn't on this plan. Still doing my LL breathing a few times a week and walking an hour a day! Slowly but shorely I'm getting off the extra weight I've put back on twice in the past 3 years.
Guest guest
Thanks jack for all your information--i take other essential oils as well, like hemp and eat nuts like walnut and almond and pumpkin and sunflower seeds, so flax is just one part of my EFA profile--i love the taste of the ground flax meal and i put it in organic vegetable juice along with a shake of granulated kelp. i am gonna try the flax microgreens on papertowel next time to see if maybe the soil gave them that taste--i dont notice a bad taste with the wheatgrass juice, but you know thats so sweet youwouldnt notice it! be well.... and smile! alex
Guest guest
Hi Kristy, I have heard wonderful things about flaxseeds and their oil. Remember that they oxidize easily and should be used quickly (so buy small quantities) and store them in the refrigerator. The toasted, ground seeds have a lot of fiber so are used for regularity. The oil might interfere with your vitamin regimen, so I wouldn't use it at the same time. Watch out for bowel issues, because it is an oil. That said, I bow to and Marta for more. Hugs and blessings, Ann
Guest guest
I take flaxseed in capsul form everyday. I figure we are " deficient " in the Omega fatty acids.... so it can't hurt. --Me

Guest guest
I think like so many things, it totally depends on the person. I took flaxseed oil daily (for however long it takes to get through a bottle or two) and noticed: 1) no change in cravings 2) no change in my skin 3) no change in my hair 4) no change in my progress. However, others swear by it - so I guess it's all in how your body handles it. Rainey <<Okay, I have read the info on the links but I am still not sure about flaxseed oil. I have to admit that I think a lot of things are touted as being oh so necessary for health but are not truly tested and really are things whose best accomplishment is extracting cash from the gullible public. I am a child of the 60's when Wonder Bread was supposed to be so great after all LOL (you know, " Builds strong bodies twelve ways! " ) I don't buy a thing from GNC. Sooooo...what is your own EXPERIENCE? Does flaxseed oil help with burning fat? I don't need any supplements for energy because the workouts and the proper foods are doing that nicely. But, I am not losing much weight. My experience is like the one so many posters are mentioning--feeling good, clothes fitting better, looking better, weight the same or decreasing only slightly. I would love to take flaxseed if it truly does something observable. Do you find flaxseed oil helpful to your weightloss efforts, yes or no? >>
Guest guest
I think due to tx, my hair and skin were getting extremely dry. The flaxseed seems to help with that, too. One small word of caution to add about the Flax... it tends to act like a stool softener or mild laxative. I had quit taking it due to the steroids and antibiotics which had me running for the bathroom for a month. Now that I am off the drugs I take one pill in the morning and one in the evening. This seems to work well, for me anyway. Hello to the lovely Llama who Lives on Llama Lane..Hi great to hear your doing better..I have heard wonderful things about Flax seed oil..Hey if it works huh..I have also heard wonderful things about Earthlink too..Haven't tried that either..Keep up the good work girl, enjoy the day..Am so happy your feathered friends are clear of any parrot disease.. Kathy Boo TX is going well... like , I am very tired and achy this time, oh well. Poor body has been through the wringer this year. Then my hair started showing up in my brush way too fast, I was resigned to the loss and just hoping it would grow back cool like WWD. Then I started back up on Flaxseed Oil pills along with my regular vits and am amazed... hair loss seems to have quit, for now. If I should lose later so be it, but would much rather not! Guest guest
Hi Lammail, I also remember a member mentioning that Walmart sold it for $5(the best deal I've seen yet). I went there Saturday, and couldn't find it. So they may have been sold out, or the one near me doesn't carry it. I just thought I'd mention walgreens for those who experienced the same. Walgreens seems to be on every corner. --- In , Lammail <lammail2003@y...> wrote: > I can't recall if it was Target or Walmart (probably Target) but the same product at 8 oz was around 5 bucks.... > > > I noticed today that Walgreens sells Flaxseed oil for $8.49 a bottle > (at least the one near me). Guest guest
As long as you don't heat the flax oil, you can eat it however you want. Either drink it back quickly, or add to shakes, salads, whatever. I actually really like the taste of flax with other foods that are fairly strong tasting. When I use oil, I don't mind it in a salad with balsamic vinegar & garlic which moderates the 'strong' taste of the oil. I find flax meal yummier (and cheaper & fresher because I grind myself). You do get some more carbs with it, but there is a lot of good fiber too. > > > You take it straight?! OMG...hold on *gag* Okay...reminds me of > > the spoons of castor oil mama used to make me take. > > > sorry i'm pretty sure this is the healthier way to do it -- i forget why > i take a T of fish oil everyday which is way yuckier and grosser > Felicity > > ) >
Guest guest
I've used it in my shakes. I don't prefer that at all. My favorite way is to buy one of those salad dressing spice packs, add the vinegar, water and spices, then add the flax oil and shake it up in the dressing shaker. 2 T of that dressing = 1 T of flax oil. Delicious on my salad. It's like 1-2 carbs extra for the spices. It's even good on my baked potato. I might even get fancy and do another type of vinegar or something. Barleans has been good. I got this one at Trader Joe's and it tasted like Motor Oil. It's going back today. I picked up another brand and I'm going to try that (they were out of Barleans at my store). But I've held on to the receipt and if it's yucky it's going back too. Jami > > As long as you don't heat the flax oil, you can eat it however you > want. Guest guest
Have you guys researched Flaxseed oil to get your omega-3 and Omega-6 from? That is what I am taking now instead of fish oil. Amy
