Maybe they send them to everyone. Why would the insurance company

Insurance companies care because of reporting requirements related to

accreditation and/or state reporting required for licensing.  I know because I

used to be in charge of health plan NCQA accreditation and immunization rates

are a big reporting area and if low, health plans are required to put into place

the action steps necessary to increase the rate.

Vaccines are covered by insurance. If they have not received a claim

of vaccine bill, they may assume you are not vaccinated. What

bothers me is that why are they tracking that.

these are automated mailings to anyone in their database that have children.

the reason i know this is because when we had aetna, i used to get

automated phone calls doing the exact same thing...reminding me to vaccinate my

kids.

it infuriated me, so i called aetna to reprimand them and to request that i

be taken off the phone list. i was told that they couldn't do that, but

ironically i never received anymore of those calls after that. i'm not sure if

calling the company and asking to be taken off the vaccination mailing list

would help or not.

i understand that insurance companies have a " stake " in kids getting

vaccinated, but i do feel that it is not ok to be soliciting this via phone or

mail.

it is a nuisance for one and it wastes paper and postage for another.

First if it is your medical insurance then they would know you haven't

vaccinated without the doctor needing to say anything simply because

the doctor hasn't billed them for it! As for what systems are in

place to track those who don't vax the biggest one is the school

exemption forms we need to fill out.

Yeah, that is scary. I just received yesterday my 'health babies' package from

my insurance company. They made sure to include a magazine from the March of

Dimes stating that you should get your child vaccinated for this and that at

this and that time. It says it protects your child from dangerous diseases, but

no where does it say that vaccines carry a risk as well.

I have Aetna and no one has ever called me. We started with them when my

youngest was about six or seven. Maybe they just go after those with babies,

toddlers...

They know your daughter was not vaccinated because they simply did

not pay for the vaccines. They keep track of your health records by

simply paying for the visits that your doctor charges. You doctor

never charged them for vaccines, therefore you have not vaccinate

your child.

I have gotten those cards in the mail to, because I did vaccinate my

son, but not with everything at one point.
