Guest guest
I also had an MRI done recently. I had the same experience as . MRI place says pump and dump for 24 hours. However, I pulled my Medications and Mothers' milk book out after getting the package insert and it was fine. You can call your LC or LLL leader and they should have a copy of Hale's book. There has actually been a recent update on the Radiological Meds on Hale's site. I would definitely call your LC or LLL Leader bc the MRI places have the CYA approach. (Cover Your A**) --------------------------------- You rock. That's why Blockbuster's offering you one month of Blockbuster Total Access, No Cost. Guest guest
If you are anywhere near the Atlanta area I can recommend a great chiropractor. She does NOT do the typical back cracking and x-rays. When my first child was 6 mos old I was sleeping in a chair, taking so many meds I couldn't get to the bathroom by myself and could not hold my daughter due to back pain. The only thing I was offered by my Dr at the time was stronger drugs! Someone sent me to her and I was back at work in one week. No drugs, no harsh physical back cracking and 90% less pain. I saw her during my second pregnancy too. If you want her number contact me privately and I will send it to you. If you are not in the Atlanta area I do hope you find someone to help you through this painful and stressful time. A good homeopath would be nice to find too. I have had a hard time finding a really good one that I like. I have had back issues on and off for years and I empathize with you. Cortisone shots did nothing to help me. I would just swell up and the pain was still there. I don't know about the breastfeeding aspects. The suggestions of talking to LLL or a good LC sound good. Best of luck to you!!! I hate the thought of them putting any dye into my body but during my last pregnancy I could barely walk due to my sciatic nerve acting up and I was very active for years (at the gym 4 days a week) and I was immobilized for the last 3 months. I want to get a shot of cortizone before I get pregnant because I was in so much pain last time and now I will have a walking toddler. Anyone have any thoughts on the dye, nursing or other options. It's supposed to last about 6- mos to a year and I am hoping it will cover me most of my pregnancy. It was very bad last time.
Guest guest
I am a nurse & used to manage an MRI facility in Chicago. What type of MRI are you having, what body part? You need to find out the make/type of the dye, how much is given etc... and get the package insert copied for you before you have the test....you can also talk to the radiologist at the facility you have the MRI completed. There are many contraindications, specifically pregnancy and breastfeeding....kidney/liver disease....etc. If the dye was absolutely necessary, you will definately need to pump and toss, How long depends on many things....as each one has different effects on the body and is eliminated differently. Just a suggestion..... but the staff should definately help you out on this- they have to let you know ahead of time....and should screen you before the test as well. You should also have to sign a form stating you have been informed of the risks , read the fine lines. What I remember is that they really don't know what effect it has on the body- especially breastfeeding. No suprise there right?! *email back if you can what type of test- my email is jeannalocascio@... if you do not want to post and maybe i can help you out.
