Hi, my advice would be to first stop all those meds as they will not cure her. I

would also pass on allergy testing, especially on a baby. My view, having gone

through this years ago, is that the child is allergic, rather than the allergens

being at fault. When you take the " blame the allergen " approach, the focus is

then on avoiding all those allergens--not a bad idea for some of them, like

dairy, but it's better to focus on strengthening up the immune system as a way

to become non-allergic.

Not sure if this makes sense the way I'm writing it but with the help of a

naturopath and dietary changes, my son got over these problems. He became

congested/inflamed ears/wheezing when he had dairy, oranges and corn. Soy also

was a problem. If you're not nursing your daughter, she is likely having either

dairy or soy formula. Is that the case? Does she eat any solids? I didn't give

mine solids that early but maybe that would be a solution to get the dairy/soy

out of her diet.

Definitely find yourself a good naturopath. I would not try to solve this on my

own. Where do you live?

I can offer a little advice or personal insight on the prevacid for acid reflux.

Both of my kids had this as infants. My oldest son now 3 1/2 was on it from 6

months to about 1 yr. He had it pretty bad and it was apparent he was in alot

of discomfort from it. The prevacid really worked for him and he did great on

it. He was able to get off of it around a year old. My youngest son who is now

18 months was on it from about 2-3 months until about 6-7 months. He was not

near as bad and did not seem to be in discomfort from it. Once I started him on

baby food it seemed to be what he needed. I also did not breastfeed and I know

there is speial formulas out now that are for acid reflux but they are muh mreo

expensive. My docotr told me I ould jsut put a little cereal in his bottle

around 3-4 months old to help thicken it up a bit to help keep it down. I never

did this due to the fact he would not drink a botte with cereal in it.

I hope this helps, just try keeping her upright for about 30-45 mins after

feeding...also, I am not sure what the side effects are for the prevacid as I

just trusted my doctor was giving me something to help my child.....but if the

side effects do not seem to be a concern, I can tell you prevacid helped out

ALOT for both of my kids....

Much Love,

Beth

Allergies in Infants/Probiotics?

My daughter has reflux, asthma, eczema, and now " allergies " . She's 6

months old, and I am not nursing her. In a few days she is scheduled

to have the blood test drawn for allergies. She's already had the

scratch test and she reacted to several allergens.

She's had chronic congestion, Upper respiratory infections, wheezing,

etc since December. Originally, I was told that it was RSV. When it

didn't go away, she was referred to for these allergy tests.

Please help/advise. I have been given prevacid for the reflux,

pulmicort and xopenex for the wheezing and now zyrtec and hydroxyzine

for the allergies. I do not want to put these chemicals into my baby's

body, but at the same time I hate to see her suffer. I've yet to find

a homeopath that I can trust and although her doctor is respectful of

my refusal to vaccinate, and hesistant to prescribe, she will usually

prescribe something just to make me go away.

Any ideas? Would probiotics help? I've ordered the book on Sherri's

website, but it still has not arrived.

First let me say that while I will ALWAYS be sensitive to the

reasons/emotions of mothers who do not give their babies breastmilk and

would never judge a woman for that, I also don't apologize for saying that

it is the best thing for a baby/child. This is an irrefutable fact in

almost all cases. So I don't mean to even open a dialogue about

breastfeeding, that is not my intention. But instead would like to suggest

using breastmilk (donor or banked) to heal your baby's gut and ease her

sensitivities. If even for a two or three month " trial run " with

breastmilk, you could eliminate the medications, you would factor out the

chemicals and ingestible proteins in formula and give her something that is

tailor made for her digestive, neurological and immune system. It would

probably save you a lot of money if you're able to eliminate expensive

testing, meds and formula. And if it works, you've helped your daughter in

more ways than one. All of the things you mentioned could have been caused

by and made cumulatively worse by formula feeding. Again, I hope no one

misinterprets my message - evidence, literature, research, etc. supports the

use of breastmilk as medicinal - I've even considered sneaking into a

smoothie or two for my husband who suffers from ulcerative colitis. Who

knows, you may even get your doctor to " prescribe it " and let insurance help

you out with the cost. Not sure about that..

Good luck,

My son is 6 months and we had a lot of reflux problems...what right away helped

him was the cereal in a bottle.

Was she vaccinated? These are common reactions after vaccines.

There is much hope WITHOUT drugs which add their own layer of harm.

She received her 2 month vaccinations--after that, is when I became

more involved in researching what was going into her body.

She sounds like my son 6 months ago. Get her off dairy and on to a

hydrolyzed formula (Similac alimentum is my favorite). Do not go to

soy...a lot of kids with dairy issues also have problems with soy. Do

not give her juice...she may have an underlying fungal infection

causing to the congestion and infections. Get her on a good probiotic

and to a good chiropractor who adjusts hiatal hernias. This should help

with the reflux.

so glad you became aware

But there are a lot of vaccines given at 2 months (and hep b vax at

birth in most cases) and all of these could already be the cause of

reflux, asthma, eczema, and now " allergies " , I'm sorry to say. Are

you able to see a homeopath to help clear the effects of the vaccines?
