As a healthcare worker I am required to get a yearly mantoux. I am

nursing my 14 month old and concerned how safe receiving this would

be. This is considered a pregnancy category C for pregnant woman. Any

thoughts?

Thanks,

Teri

Get the TB blood test instead.

Here is an article about it.

Sheri,

I guess there is nothing you can do if you already got one while pregnant?

My daughter got one on her first prenatal visit last month and thought it

was alright as it was just a test they told her. The ob/gyn is the one who

had her take it..I guess that is their routine. I was very upset. But I

guess there is nothing to do about it now except hope for the best. I had

no idea they were going to even bring that up or I would have told her not

to do it. She is also thinking of having a repeat c-section (I think it was

their fault she had the first one, but that is another story) since they

scared her and her husband with the ½% chance of having an uterine rupture.

A repeat c-section in their mind is a safer option...grrh.

Regarding repeat c-sections....after my first c-section I too was

concerned about uterine rupture. BUT, after I read an account of a

lady who was 36 weeks pregnant with her first child having a

spontaneous uterine rupture (without even being in labor) I came to

the conclusion that a woman's uterus is literally in God's hands.

You can do all you can do to be healthy, but, beyond that it's out of

your control.

Personally, I'd stop worring and find a doctor who would be

supportive of vbac!

My first two were c-sections (2nd was not going to be, but ended up breech),

second two were vaginal. It can work out just fine, but it's individual. My doc

told me, sure things can go wrong but that's what I'm here for--emergencies.

Thanks to all who answered my question!

My work place stated that a blood test would not be accepted

because the facility would not pay for it. They said I could just

do a screen risk form if I got a note from my OB or pediatrician

that said I shouldn't have the skin test. I don't know if they

would accept the blood test if I paid for it in the future because

after reading the info on this, I don't want it even if I wasn't

pregnant or nursing.
