Next Monday a shadowy bureaucratic body called the New Jersey Public Health

Council will hold a meeting to rubber stamp a plan to add four new mandatory

shots to the already overcrowded schedule of vaccines New Jersey ’s children are

forced to take.

Please call New Jersey 's Governor Jon Corzine at (609) 292-6000 and politely

demand that this plan stop immediately. Also call the members of the Public

Health Council and ask then to vote no on Monday. Again please be very polite to

The council will be considering adding the following shots:

· The flu shot for children 6 to 59 months as a requirement to attend daycare or

pre-school, 90% of flu shots contain mercury, and there is no clear evidence

that it provides any health benefit to children under 2.

· The Pnuemococcal (Prevnar) series shot for children 2 months to 59 months

enrolled in pre-school or daycare.

· A Diptheris-Pertussis-Tetanus booster for sixth-graders.

· A menigococcal shot for sixth-graders, many of which contain mercury.

We have been fighting these proposals for three years now and we aren't going to

give up now.

New Jersey wants to become the first jurisdiction anywhere in the world to make

flu shots and meningococcal shots mandatory. The vast majority of these shots

contain mercury. These would be the first mercury containing shots made

mandatory anywhere in the US since the Federal government adopted a policy way

back in 1999 of making all shots mercury free " as soon as possible. "

New Jersey also wants to require Prevnar, a shot that is poorly tested,

ineffective and unusually prone to adverse effects. There is also growing

evidence that this shot's effectiveness is rapidly diminishing due to changes in

the ecology of pneumococcal organisms and has been linked to the development of

anti-biotic resistant strains of pneumoccocus. And an extra DTaP would be added

on top of the four already required to go to school.

All of these shots have questionable effectiveness and safety, and would divert

huge sums away from other much more important public health concerns. No studies

are done at all of the collective effects of multiple new vaccines.

CDC officials have said that if they can get these shots required in New Jersey

they will attempt to make them mandatory in all other states so this action is

of national importance. So your action is crucial to protect all of America 's

children
