Guest guest
Buggered around the net a little and found out a little more on Hydrated Silica, something that could conceivably be mixed into a homemade cedarcide-type pest spray: " Hydrated silica is a derivative of silica (silicon dioxide), an abundant compound that forms about 12% of the earth's surface. Sand and obsidian are common forms of silica. In hydrated form, this ingredient is an odorless, tasteless white gelatinous substance which is chemically inert. This same ingredient may also go by the names amorphous silicon dioxide, silicic acid, or silica gel. " " Silica gel is an amorphous form of silicon dioxide. Both employ a physical mode of action to control insects. They are abrasive and act as desiccants, removing the oily, protective film that covers insects' bodies, causing them to dry out and die. " Right. Now where does one buy Hydrated Silica? Sounds like it's form of DE that's water soluble. Does anyone know which form of Silica they use in cedarcide?
