Guest guest
I think that the seabuckthorn oil is very effective. when I first used it on my face, tons of " sand " came out, also on my back and arms. Now nothing comes out at all. The essential oils I use are cedarwood atlas, rosewood (usually one or the other), lemongrass, peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus. Tea tree oil also, but I'm out of that. I've used oils and essential oils all along, but the difference was the sea buckthorn and the beeswax. The beeswax forms a kind of seal, I think, that is very moisturizing also. My skin looks and feels plump and moist - pretty cool for an old broad! I really think that another difference is simply the amount used - I am never, ever without either balm or oil over 100% of my body, and I use the oil in my hair/on my scalp at night. I prefer using carrier oils with essentials, for purity's sake, for nature's sake, but I'll bet keeping yourself covered head to toe with any kind of oil would help. However, it's my belief that for your general health's sake, and the environment, that you should use a little petroleum-based products as possible! The dog isn't bothered any more either. After my nightly bath, a couple of times a week I throw him into the water and lather him up with coconut shampoo. There are still oils in the water, and they make his coat very glossy, and he doesn't itch any more. He's pretty mad at me though! I'll keep you guys updated. I'm going to continue this for another 60 days (it's been 30), and then go back to normal, if I can remember what normal is! LOL I pray that this is the end! > >> > > >> > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
Basically, kept myself covered in lots of oil - morning shower, nightly bath, oil, oil, oil! I made a balm with seabuckthorn, coconut and mango butter and added essential oils (see my answer to Doe). > > > > > > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
No, not really. I'm on food stamps so I'm limited in what I can buy. I started drinking more water and cut way down on sweet things, but that didn't really make a difference until I started using the oil saturation thing. Here's my recipe for balm: 1 part sea buckthorn oil (this is costly - I buy the pulp oil from New Directions Aromatics, $52 for 16 oz.) 1 part beeswax 2-3 parts fractionated coconut oil (very cheap at NDA) or you can use any kind of carrier here, like olive or canola 1 part mango butter Essential oils - cedarwood or rosewood, tea tree, clove (sometimes, it smells good), rosemary (careful with the amount, it burns), eucalyptus, peppermint and sometimes lemongrass (this smells very disinfectant-ish so I use sparingly). I put all of the carrier oil/butter except for the sea buckthorn into a glass measuring cup with the beeswax, and melt it in a pan of boiling water, stirring. As soon as it's melted, I stir in the sea buckthorn oil and let it cool for a minute or two. Then I put in the essential oils, stir and pour it into a tupperware container and put it in the fridge. When it cools, it forms a nice gooey balm. If I didn't have this problem I would use this beeswax balm. The beeswax keeps the surface of your skin moist but it also seals it. After a long oil bath, it's especially nice. Note - last night at Thanksgiving dinner my little niece says in awe " you look beautiful!!! " and kept bringing me love notes and drawings. My nephews from out of town were also pleasantly surprised but I didn't get love notes from them, LOL. I doubt that drying out your skin is the answer; your skin needs moisture! And if you're still being bitten with dry skin, it triples the pain, IMO. Only one problem with the balm - sea buckthorn oil can stain - it washes right out with bleach on cotton, but my bra straps are permanently dingy! LOL > > > > > > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
Hi Lianasama Wow good news kills the bug and it makes you look well wow. I was wondering how much of the essential oils you use in the mix. 1 whole ounce ? or 1 drop of each? Thank you so much for helping . Bill lianasama wrote: > > No, not really. Guest guest
It really depends on the oils that you use. If you use lavender or tea tree, you can put in as much as you want. With the oils that I use, I put in about 1/2 teaspoon of each. You should be very careful not to use too much, less is more. If your skin is burned and irritated, I imagine that the problem would at least feel like it gets worse, if it doesn't actually do just that.. There are so many oils that help, it's a very long post that would list them all. I like the woods - cedarwood and rosewood, and I love the clove, it has a kind of numbing effect. Peppermint is a must, it's invaluable. I read that Rosemary is good for thinning hair (demodex-related) so I added that, and eucalyptus as well. > >> > > > > >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
Canola and olive I get from the grocery store. Everything else I ordered from New Directions Aromatics - http://newdirectionsaromatics.com. There is a $50 minimum order, or you have to pay extra, I think it's $10 or something like that. I don't have a problem with that, since I spend a lot of money there, practically all my extra. They sell French green clay as well - I am going to order some of that too. I've gotten addicted to the site, and intend to start making soap, balm, and scrubs soon! I've been looking for a way to earn a little extra money, and I've really gotten into this. I guess it's my silver lining for the cloud of misery I lived under for so long. Craft shows, here I come! Guest guest
Incorrect - I bought a very good vacuum cleaner some time back, and have used menthol crystals as well. Also, this apartment has pergo floors, not wood or carpet, which I feel has played a significant part. I also poofed Roach Prufe in my cabinets and under the carpet, and have used Bifen under the furniture. I sleep on an air bed (I live in a studio) and use clean sheets every night. My condition improved greatly from doing all these things, but I still had the little b@st@rd$ living in my skin and scalp, and if I slipped up on a few days cleaning (which I do, I'm a natural slob and it's been very hard to overcome that) then I would feel them crawling up my legs. Didn't mean to mislead - I didn't mention all this in the post because it was basically about what I've done differently - I should have said " in addition to " ! > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > >> >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
M., With all respect to lianasama, I'm choosing to post the following. As luck would have it, I came upon it while searching through saved information on my pc tonight. Btw- I too was interested in knowing the nature of her environmental protocol. Here ya' go: bird mites/message/18807 D. > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > >> >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
D Thanks for that. I hope lianasama has beaten this awful creature. Guest guest
About a week - but remember, I've got oil or balm covering every inch of me, 24/7. I don't know that they are gone forever, only that what I'm doing now is working. No new bites, and no crawly feeling. I expect I'll keep this up for at least a couple of months, then maybe I'll go back to normal and see what happens... > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
Lianasama If this is a mite the oil, balm may very well suffocate them. I would think the sulfur would also put a hurt on the creatures. Did you ever see insects visible? I did, mites and springtails, strangely after they were no longer visible I continued to have bites eruptions and rashes. Thanks for sharing keep us posted. Guest guest
I saw bird mites early on - at the time, I didn't know what they were but after I got on the Internet I did a little research and discovered what they were. When I first had this, I was drenching my skin with all kinds of chemicals - lice shampoo, lindane - I got quite ill from it too. After that, I never saw anything until a couple of years ago, when I neglected to vacuum my carpet I could see something very tiny flying over it. And I've always felt the crawling. That was the worst part for me. What I see now is the " sand creatures. " The other night, they started coming out of my left cheekbone. I couldn't figure out where from, I guess the pores of my skin. I kept rubbing them off and finally they were gone. My cheekbone was red though. Until I started oiling my scalp every night, they (sand) were always in my hair, but they appear to be gone now. My hair has gotten quite thin after all this, and I'm hoping that the rosemary will help it thicken up. I think I'll probably keep using oil and balm even if I eradicate this pest. I never want to feel like that again! And I confess, I've gotten addicted to having satiny skin! Guest guest
I've had a similar experience ( " sand creatures " ). When I shower, as soon as the hot water hits my scalp, small irritating particles (eggs/nits?) flow into my eyelashes, and then into my eyes- it's brutal. I'm presently using Tea Tree Shampoo, and find it to be very effective. However, it doesn't calm down the creatures. When I apply Jojoba Conditioner after I rinse out the shampoo, they completely stop all activity, and calm down. 10% sulfur soap is likewise, effective at stopping the activity, but as soon as it's rinsed off, the biting continues. If you leave on a 2nd lathering, after the initial rinse, the bugs won't bite, but the residue will dry your skin out badly. As M. ( " healinghope " ) as recommended, home made lye soap (with added sulfur powder) left on the skin, does not have the same negative effect. Guest guest
I plan to start making soap soon. Sulfur, I haven't tried yet but may add it to my protocol if this doesn't work. I've really gotten into this natural skin care thing as a result of this plague, which is somewhat of a silver lining. I wanted to buy the soap and balm that is out there, and I had used the soap, but when they put a minimum $30 on orders it kind of pissed me off, and I don't order from there any more. Too expensive anyway, it's easier and cheaper to make my own. I've been reading about the French green clay and want to try that. Also Australian red (or is it blue?) clay which is meant to be very good at clearing out hair follicles. > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! I wash my hair too to get the oil out from the night before. After I dry off, I put my balm on all over. I don't stint on the balm. It's expensive, even when you make it yourself, but I think it's important to cover every inch of your body. I believe that the carrier oil and beeswax in the balm smother them, and the essential oils finish them off! > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > Bathe EVERY night - I put in a mixture of essential oils in fractionated coconut oil, and pour that in the bath. I use ALOT of oil - at least 1/3 cup. I dunk my hair underwater too. After I dry off, balm all over, and I oil my scalp with tea tree and rosemary in olive oil. I cover my pillow with a towel to keep it clean. > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > That's pretty much it - I wash my clothes in bleach, and those that can't be bleached don't seem to get infested; using 3 bounce sheets per dryer load pretty much keeps my clothes clear. > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > This, in addition to regular cleaning and menthol crystals, is going to work for me! Guest guest
That is definitely in the future! I'm sitting here right now and my skin is crackling dry, I took an oil bath last night but used new (cheap) soap that I bought. What do you put in your soaps? And did you have to buy a lot of equipment? I also saw a recipe for crockpot shampoo bars on the net, I want to make as well. > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing! Guest guest
Nope making your own soap is simple, however the supplies can be costly at the start up. Here is the web page I started with, for many buying soaps may be easier for that soapsgonebuy. If you have Morgellons, or ANY kind of scalp dermatitus or suspected fungal or parasites on the scalp DO NOT use shampoos containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and its close relative Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). These will both make your symptoms worse. (The same goes for body washes) http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/soapmakingbasics/a/cpequip.htm http://www.soapsgonebuy.com/ http://nanotransformation.com/products-that-work/jasons-natural-shampoo-with-col\ loidal-sulfur.html > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >> > > > I woke up this morning feeling great, no crawlies, nothing!
