Hi Gareth,

I think it was actually mentioned later on the list that there was

indeed a confirmed outbreak. A quick read on the www.elkhabar.com

site proved this to be correct but as you say there were a handful of

cases. Such outbreaks are relatively common in that part of the

country. Albert Camus wrote his famous novel (caled The Plague)about

such and outbreak in the 1940's.

Not personally aware of any expats in the oil and gas game in that

region, but maybe someone can tell me different?

Eventually got the info from local papers but WHO didn't have a scooby and

the mobile number of the Dr. on call for early notification was switched

off, added to which he didn't reply to my messages. Medipulse were more

switched on and had a notification about a week ago. On base here, in Hassi

Messaoud, we have a lot of Algerian Nationals living in Oran, so I was keen

to get updates ASAP!
