Guest guest
I got infested with bird mites about 3 weeks ago when a bird's nest that was attached to my house was pulled down and no miticide was sprayed on it first or after it was removed. I knew what I had immediately because my boyfriend had just identified that what was biting him was bird mites at his home. Our dogs go back and forth between the two homes and I think he got the mites from my house. Before my bird's nest was removed, my dog had been biting and scratching herself for about 3 weeks at my home. So far what I have done is have the PCO spray my house inside and outside two times and dusted my walls and attic with Delta Dust. (Non of the PCO's in my city know what a bird mite is) I went to Los Angeles to visit my mother last week and stayed at her house, made a huge mistake of sleeping in her bed and now she has bird mites in her home. I am devastated and majorly depressed. My ex-husband lives nearby and I have two young children, I am terrified of infecting him and his home and my children, so far they have not felt anything. I am absolutely terrified of these bird mites and do not know what to do next. I have a big house (4100 square feet) 90% carpet. I saw a blog where the woman said you have to disinfect your whole house and wash every single piece of clothing all at the same time to get rid of these mites. I am confused because from the blogs I read here it seems that people are cleaning there house in a piecemeal fashion, not all at once. I am overwhelmed with the task of cleaning everything in my home and washing all my clothes all at the same time. Should I keep having the PCO spray miticide every month? What can I do to get rid of these mites? Will I be able to get rid of them completely or will I just have to continually be reducing the population? There is no one in Salt Lake City who will tent and fumigate or heat treat my home that I know of. Should I try to find someone out of the area to come and do these things? My bird's nest is completely gone and clean and I made sure the bird's cannot nest there anymore. Is there any chance that after 9 months or so that these mites will die off on there own? What do I need to do at my ex-husbands home, since the kids and my dog go back and forth between the two homes. My mom needs help in Los Angeles too? Anybody know a PCO in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles that could help us? Any help eradicting these things would be greatly appreciated. I would be willing to talk on the phone to anyone also. Thanks so much for the help.
