Dear Annie:

I have been working with the oil for several years. The typical scent is a

nutty-garlic smell. It is not pleasant at all! No, it has not gone rancid,

that is just the way neem smells. It is incredibly therapeutic and if you

need the oil, you will soon learn to appreciate it, even with the smell.

The scent can be masked by citrus oils, especially citronella. What is your

intended application for the neem? Also, did you purchase it from a garden

store? Sometimes the neem there is not pure and has added pesticides. If

you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

We have some great information about neem at

If that doesn't help enough, Annie, consider getting either neem soap, a neem

cream, or neem leaves to take a bath with (make as a tea). These usually don't

smell anywhere near as strong as straight neem oil. All are effective, none as

effective as the neat oil though!

Good luck!

Michele,

This is what I have been using in my home:

http://neemtreefarms.com/bioenviro-concentrate-p-237.html

I mix it up at the heavy duty concentration for 32 oz and add two capfuls of

straight neem oil that I buy from this site. Safe, no chemicals. I have found

the soaps far better for me than any of the chemicals that I have tried. It will

aggrevate them at first, but I have kept at it and it's starting to pay off big

time. They seem to grow weaker with each spraying. I've even grown to like the

smell of this product with the mints added to it. I'd like the smell of anything

the bugs don't...lol

soap as a body mask the last 3 nights - I just rub in in my scalp and all over

my body and let it dry. I've been purging a lot more stuff out recently. I think

it helps!

in the morning, but one protocol I read about was to use this as a body mask and

leave it on for 24 hours, then take a bath with epsom salts, baking soda, etc,

then shower and use the soap as a mask again. Do this a total of 2-3 days in a

row and the results should be good.
