Guest guest
Holly, We had a PCO spray with pyrethrin about 5 times - did not work (it may work on fleas but not these things). I think there is a "Pyrethroid" derivative that is better. I'll see if I can get the info for you. Judy pyrethrins Has anyone used pyrethrins? They are made from flowers. My dad seems to think that it will work. Thanks
Guest guest
I just had my house sprayed with commercial grade--I dont think it really helped, the bug man also sprayed the cars with it. He said it is supposed to have a residual effect, but i'm still seeing um From: Holly <hollyjane11@...>bird mites Sent: Tuesday, July 7, 2009 12:22:53 PMSubject: pyrethrins Has anyone used pyrethrins? Guest guest
permethrin is the drug (cream) that the docs use to treat scabies. It is 5% permethrin, Elimite cream. But, some of these mites are becoming resistant to permethrin. And, as you know, when the mites are environmental, it's hard to get rid of them. You can try permethrin mixed with Nylar, as an environmental spray. Call doyourownpestcontrol dot com and ask them what is best used for bird mites. Here is what truly blessed used in her home and some other information i copied. That was us. We looked and looked for a PCO and finally found one that knew what we were talking about. (The big wigs at Orkin told me that I was delusional.. . so I don't EVER recommend calling them!) Our Exterminator came and sprayed and fogged the entire house and all attics with: Demize CC <sp?> .03% Conc. 3oz. Suspend SC .06% Conc. 1.5oz. Precor IGR .0078% Conc. 1oz. Kicker .023% Conc. 3oz. They did a really good job of knocking the numbers of mites down. We then used the bleach and salt protocol alomg with the Windex (both used in seperate rooms) and were finally able to get rid of them. This was about mid to the end of June... As has said, Not everyone has had success with using pesticides. Some have mentioned that it made the mites swarm. I DON'T recommend using pesticides that you buy at the grocery store such as foggers. They never worked for us. We needed something stronger and in the end it worked for us. It might be worth a try Good luck to you. The products that we recomended have a direct knock down part and a residual part that lasts several months for the guys that come back out later and for the emerging nymphs. And, as always, you need a second treatment around 7-10 days. Also, dont go crazy with washing. These products need to be left there to get these guys. Guest guest
It won't. Mites are immune to it. We tried it first and nothing improved. Joan pyrethrins Has anyone used pyrethrins? Guest guest
Joan....you are right. I think everyone on this site knows that I have had the attitude after the first 2 years of "kill or be killed" when it came to these things. So here is what we did..........it may come back to haunt us years from now. We went to the farm supply store. We bought bottles of that concentrated horse permethrin. We sprayed the oil all over our house and then before we stepped out of the shower we poured the stuff on us from head to toe. We thought it was going to work for about 2 weeks but all it did was run the things. geeeeeezzzzzz Rita pyrethrins Has anyone used pyrethrins? They are made from flowers.
