OFF TO THE

SUPERMARKET!

Happy Saturday, everybody! And, do I even

need to tell you? It's

the Saturday before Thanksgiving! All across

America, super centers and supermarkets are going to

be crowded with shoppers pushing their carts down the

aisles, picking up the items they'll need to prepare

their Thanksgiving dinners. (I wonder how many of

those shoppers will have shopping

lists with

them?)

After teaching at Slimmons

this morning, I'll go home, take a shower, then head

for the supermarket.

After I teach Project

Me and

my Sweatin' class

at Slimmons this morning, I'll head home, take a

shower and get ready to hit the supermarket myself.

There're a few things I'll need to prepare my own

Thanksgiving dinner. And what's on my menu, you

ask? Well, I'm glad you asked!

When I'm at the market this afternoon, I'll be sure to

pick up a coupla packages of turkey breasts. There's

this really yummy and healthy dish I like to make with

them. I create my own version of a pesto sauce. My

sauce contains fresh rosemary, garlic and crushed

black pepper. Now I always use a meat thermometer

when cooking my turkey breast because I want it to

come out at the perfect temperature. I'm sure you can

all vouch for me, there's nothing worse than dry

turkey, right?

I'll stop by the produce department because I'll need

some salad fixings. I'm making a colorful chopped

salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I'll be

sure and select the best looking yams, too. (I like

them roasted.) And oh yeah, can't forget the spinach

for my spinach souffle. (I'm using my mother's

recipe.) Finally, I'll pick out some pretty Brussels

sprouts for this new recipe I've been eager to try.

(Aren't Brussels sprouts cute? They're like little

baby cabbages.)

So tell me, when are you heading

for your favorite supermarket?

Okay, I know, I know...I didn't

forget dessert! (What? Are

you kidding?) It'll be that American classic, hot

apple pie. I'll have only a small slice and top it

with a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt.

So tell me, when are you heading

for your favorite supermarket? Well, if you get your

shopping done today, you'll have more time next week

to get all of your other holiday prep-work done.

Now when I head for the supermarket this

afternoon, like I talked about earlier, I'll

definitely be going with my shopping

list in

hand. You should, too and...stick to it! Don't detour

from your shopping list, picking up items you don't

need in your house that'll take you off program,

okay? Because remember,

it may be Thanksgiving week but it's no reason or excuse to go off your

weight-loss program.

To market, to market we

go!

So, to market, to market we go! Just

be sure you've got your shopping list in hand and

serve your family a tasty, healthy holiday meal this

Thanksgiving Day!
