Guest guest
IGNORING IT... Tuesday, 15 November 2011 Doesn't make it go away! What am I talking about? Well, I'm talking about that pain you may have been experiencing or the little bump on some part of your body. The pain or bump has been there for a couple of months and you've really thought nothing of it. But it's been consistently bothering you and...it's still there. (This ever happen to you?) Well, it happened to me once and I want to share my story with you. I had this little bump on my face that just would not go away. See, I had this little bump on my face, just to the right of my nose. It had been there for a couple of months and just would not go away. I tried applying Neosporin, I used a little Calamine lotion on it once and, in fact, I tried a number of home remedies to get rid of that bump. Every time I looked at my face, I could only focus on the bump near my nose. Meanwhile, none of my efforts to get rid of it worked. So I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment to see a dermatologist. When I did, I was shocked to discover...that bump turned out to be a form of skin cancer! The dermatologist sent me to a surgeon who removed the cancerous bump. I have to tell you, I was scared to death because you know how we get when we even hear the word cancer. Thankfully, after the bump was removed, it never came back. I was lucky but, looking back, I have to say that I waited way too long to see the doctor about it. If you have a pain in your body or a bump somewhere that just won't go away, don't ignore it. Look, if you have a pain in your body or a bump somewhere that just won't go away, don't ignore it. You need to do what I finally did. Pick up the phone and call your doctor. Just don't wait like I did with that bump on my face! In most cases, your doctor will be able to help so that you're not in pain anymore. Or she can at least tell you that little bump is nothing to be concerned about. I don't have to tell you that living with pain is dreadful. Sometimes, the pain may bother you all day long and into the night. It affects your work, the way you eat and may even affect whether you can get your workouts in or not. When something is wrong, your body "talks to you." Look, that pain may very well turn out to be "nothing." But, on the other hand, it could turn out to be a sign of something more serious. As you get older, you can't afford to ignore those things that aren't right with your body. When something is wrong, your body "talks to you." It's trying to let you know that something is not right. So please, listen to your body because, like I said at the beginning of this message, ignoring the problem will not make it go away. In fact, ignoring it may give a minor medical problem time to turn into a more serious one. Please, take good care of that special body of yours!
