Guest guest
What an inspiring post!! A great way to " explain " pre-BFL and post- BFL. I'd love to have Hamilton Arms from the Terminator!!! Sunshine yippee! I was out dancing last night, and one of the women I know squeezed my bicep and asked what I've been doing since I've been looking buff. Then she apologized for squeezing my arm. I said no apology needed! I want to hear that people have noticed! One thing about BFL is I have way higher expectations of myself than before. Guest guest
I have used it so many times since it came. Several smoothies - my favorite one being for breakfast, using steel cut oats. I need to buy some coconut though - this morning I had it with a large naval orange, an apple, a handful of blueberries, some Greek Goddess yogart, a few tablespoons of hemp hearts, a handful of spinich, some water and some ice. I don't like my smoothies terribly cold. I made the recipe in the dvd and manual - chicken, potato soup. My son loved it so much, I made it two nights in a row. I tried ice-cream but it came out like a milkshake. I didn't have more ice, so we drank it Today I am going to wet chop some veggies and make a course slaw type of salad. I want it to be lunch time already so I can play! Deb From: <kareningotham@...>Subject: Re: Yippee! Date: Tuesday, February 8, 2011, 7:42 PM And are you having fun getting to know each other? Yippee! Guest guest
Isn't it fun, Deb? So glad you are loving it. I suggest you NOT wait until lunchtime to play! I like to wet chop my veggies ahead of time, and set them in a strainer so the extra moisture has time to drain off. From: <kareningotham@...>Subject: Re: Yippee! Guest guest
Use frozen milk cubes for your ice cream--much richer. Yippee!  My Vitamix just arrived UPS!!! Guest guest
I agree about the moisture. I drain mine as well, especially coleslaw. You can always squeeze things too. I remember I use to make Cole slaw this way years ago, and haven't done it for years. Its so easy. I did lettuce and celery yesterday. For some reason, my carrot took a lot longer than the video did I saw recently. K -- Re: Yippee! Isn't it fun, Deb? So glad you are loving it. I suggest you NOT wait until lunchtime to play! Guest guest
I'm going to try that too. I made the ice cream with half and half and ice, and I wasn't impressed. It melted so fast. And was watery. The fruit ones seem to last longer. K -- Re: Yippee! Use frozen milk cubes for your ice cream--much richer.

Guest guest
Oh, Heavens yes! I have cows, so cream is a staple for me. I often freeze it into cubes, or go ahead and puree my other ingredients (chocolate, pumpkin, agave, etc) with the cubes, then freeze those. I can also whip fresh cream into lovely whipped cream in the VM. I use goat milk too, but it has much less cream than cow's milk. From: K <kamako@...>Subject: Re: Yippee! Guest guest
, can you share a basic real cream ice cream recipe with us and proceedure? I wish we had real cows. We use to in Montana. I have heavy whipping cream from costco. Soon we will get a trader joes within 16 miles from here. I can't wait. Although I have never shopped there, I have heard about them for years. Guest guest
I am pretty sure some of my recipes are in the files section here on the group. I don't have time to look at the moment, but will check later and post some if they aren't there. From: K <kamako@...>Subject: Re: Yippee! Guest guest
Use 'em up fast when they're ready--they have a tendency to "freeze-dry." Re: Yippee! Guest guest
Yes, but you need to cut it with fruit, milk, half-and-half, etc. You don't want to end up with butter. Re: Yippee! Guest guest
Any tips on getting it out of the Vitamix? I tried it a while back and couldn't get it out, added more liquid and it poured out, but that wasn't what I had in mind. Guest guest
I use my batterfinger spatula, or just tip the container upside down and give it a good whack onto my cutting board-probably not the best thing in the world for the container, but its what I do, lol. From: Sandy G <sandygoral@...>Subject: Re: Yippee! Guest guest
That's so wonderful that you are getting a Trader Joe's nearby! I wish we could get one here, but that will never happen... Whole Foods kind of has a run of things here in Austin. Not that I'm complaining - I love that Whole Foods got its start here, and I do love the adventure of shopping at the 80,000 sq. foot flagship store here - such fun! But you can never just run in and out of the store - it's always an ordeal. I long for the olden days when all my friends used to work at the original little bitty Whole Foods, and I used to hang out at the store waiting for my hippie friends to get off work so that we could go out and listen to some awesome Austin music. I still would love to have a Trader Joe's here (even though I might feel a little like a trader shopping there lol).FrannyOn Feb 9, 2011, at 12:32 PM, K wrote: <SENDER_EMAILkamako@wavecable@@com.png> , can you share a basic real cream ice cream recipe with us and proceedure?
