Guest guest
Written yesterday: I can't believe it, it is like a miracle. I slept through the night, I did not drink any wine last night, I did not eat more than my three bowls of food and one bowl of buttermilk. This morning, BG was 115, still way too high. Weight was 240, down 3 pounds. I am not counting this as an official weight, but I can see that it is not merely water weight gain, it has stayed quite steady at 243 for days now. Today I feel ready to get on with a commission project. Last night I worked on one of my own projects, designing a travel companion case from an old art box. I had found several objects that I converted into miniature furniture, just working through the designs and how I will create it was immensely satisfying. I wrote down colours, fabrics, wallpaper ideas and once the creativity begins, the happiness follows. Much of my frustrations lately have come from being so preoccupied with my failures in eating and once I am released from it, I can concentrate on other things which brings me to a better balance overall. 7am bowl: 2 eggs, 5 or 6 smokies cooked in butter, coffee with cream 12pm bowl: whole avocado with lemon juice and sea salt 1pm bowl: 2T greek yogurt, sprinkled with flaxseed meal and drizzle of SF Torani syrup. 5pm bowl: chicken dish (chicken, tomatoes, onion, garlic, wine) 8pm: 3 glasses of wine, 6 thin sesame wasa with cream cheese, peanut butter I made a mistake with the wine, I knew it too as the munchies hit. I was able to stop, but I knew the trouble it would cause. And it was true, I did not sleep well, felt bloated and tired. I continue on..... Written today: I was surprised to see a weight drop, down to 238 this morning. BG was 119. I had a horrible episode of the night sweats last night, even though the window was wide open and I could tell the air was icy cold, it just could not cool down my body. Today, I am alternating between being very cold to the bones and very hot. Awful. Normally, I make coffee and breakfast at the same time. This morning, I just made coffee, because I wanted to drink it from my bowl. I then got busy with my commission, and I totally forgot to eat until I felt very hungry at noon. Another unplanned fast of 16 hours. I like being able to extend my eating times, but I am not interested in fasting right now. 7am bowl: coffee and cream 12pm bowl: 1/3 tube italian sausage, peppers, 2 eggs (could not finish it) 4 pm bowl: greek yogurt, flaxseed and a drizzle of SF Torani 7pm bowl: chicken dish from last night I drank the coffee from my blue bowl. I ate lunch from the white bowl. I keep going back and forth between the two, just not feeling one is better than the other. Then, I smiled. I know what is wrong. I had thought that I wanted something new, something eye catching, something to inspire me. But I have my original bowl in the cupboard. I went and got it. Like an old friend, there was the bowl I use to use and it was familiar to hold it. The bowl is heavy and substantial. It has a round bottom, so it fits in the hand comfortably. It has a lip rim, so one can drink from it. The glaze is neutral, not too dark. It is one of a kind, unique. I thought about how I use to think the beige colour was so bland, but once I started eating out of a dark glaze bowl, I did not like the way it would visually swallow up food. Funny, all this bowl play and I go back to the one I already had. -- Posted By i Mouse to Mindful i Mouse at 3/24/2011 04:31:00 PM
Guest guest
Not sure if you are interested in this or not. After I had my hysterectomy last summer; I started with hot flashes, etc. My gynecological oncologist suggested the following vitamins to see if that would help: Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Don't need to do the Vitamin C; but it helps the Vitamin E. Since starting these vitamins; I have not had any problems with the hot flashes brought on by menopause. Guest guest
Thanks, Dacia. I am taking a multi and an extra C. So I am getting all those vitamins. I checked the label. I can’t really tell what is going on. I wake up every night about 2-3am drenched in sweat. I am so hot I have to rip off the covers and cool down. I am leaving the windows open all night and even use a fan, but I go through a process of having to cool down before I can get to sleep again. Then it alternates with getting chilled to the bone where I have to take a hot shower until I warm up again. It is so weird, it almost feels like I am getting the flu, but the flu doesn’t come. The timing is so predictable that I think it must be a new (for me) form of hot flashes. My BG’s are so out of whack that I think there is definitely something going on in my body. I talked to my husband about it, and if I cannot soon get this under control, I will possibly see a doctor before I leave, or when I get to Hawaii.
