Remember, a "normal" A1C reading has a range of 4.5-6.0. Is it the SAME brand of A1C home test you used previously? Are you keeping track of grams of sugar you are consuming? May be worth adding to your spreadsheet to see if there is some high sugars. I know for me, alcohol really messes with my BG readings. (Yes, I know the A1C is over 3 months, but did you drink more or less alcohol the last three months in comparison to the previous test?)You are doing more than most with keeping track of your health. Give yourself a break! apmleehere@...From: i Mouse <martini.mouse@...>100-plus Sent: Wed, March 16, 2011 4:09:14 PMSubject: [Mindful i Mouse] Second A1C Test

We both had our A1C test done today. Husband has increased from 5.6 to 5.9, I increased from 5.0 to 5.4. Since the test covers about a 3 month period, I pulled a report that showed what I had eaten 3 months up to the first test: and then to compare, the three months up to the latest test: It appears to me that I am getting more insulin resistant and that low carb is not "healing" me. Here I am consuming even less carbs than before and I am going up in the A1C! Husband has not been following his diet at all, and he admits that he needs to cut down again. I helped him design his diet, so that he has a plan to follow on the truck. But I don't

know what to do about my own diet. I bought 100 more test strips and I will go back to square one on testing more frequently. Wow, I feel really stunned by this. I had thought I was doing so well! My mood has plummeted. I am feeling a lot of resentment. --

Yes, I do know that it is within the normal range, however it has increased in the last 6 months and I know that if I wasn’t so strict on my carbs that it would be much higher. I am really concerned, especially with the numbers I am getting now with my troubled eating on home-time.

My program doesn’t give me a sugar count, I would have to pull each food up individually to mark it. I am working on getting the carbs down to my trucking level and see if I can get my BG’s back down again. I am way too high.
