AND THE WINNER

IS...

Monday, 06 February 2012

Oh, it's awards show season. From The Golden

Globes, to the SAG Awards to the grand daddy of awards

shows, The Academy Awards, seems there's another

awards show on TV just about every week this time of

year. I guess Los Angeles is the "Awards Show Capitol

of the World." But I'd rather watch the s on TV

than see them in person at the Kodak Theatre in

Hollywood.

Because you're overweight,

you figure there's no way you can ever look so good in

the clothes you wear. Right? Wrong!

One of the premiere events of any awards ceremony is

the red carpet "pre-show" where the big name

celebrities strut their stuff showing off their

designer outfits and fine jewelry. My friend, Joan

Rivers, is often there to cheer them on. Versace,

Donna Karan, Gualtier...all of the top

designer's fashions are worn at the awards

shows by various celebrities. You may be sitting at

home wishing you could look

like one of them. But you figure, because you're

overweight, there's no way you can ever look so good

in the clothes you wear. Right? Wrong!

Just because you're overweight doesn't mean you can't

be "Red Carpet Ready"! Trust me, those celebrities

have to follow all kinds of rules to make sure they

look fabulous. And...there're a few rules you should

follow to

look your best, too. No matter what you weigh! Like...

Favor clothes with horizontal stripes.

Contrary to popular belief, studies done by a

professor at the University of New York found that vertical

stripes actually

make a person appear larger. He noted that

horizontal stripes make the

person wearing them look taller and thinner. (Who

knew?)

Choose dark colored

clothes, especially black.

Choose dark colored clothes, especially black.

Darker colors have a slimming affect on the body.

Avoid wearing lots of white as white will make your

body look wider.

Choose fabrics that are comfortable and stretchy,

such as cotton. Shiny fabrics

tend to show off curves and make them stand out more.

Opaque colors, which are usually flatter but can still

be flatter-ing, tend to make your body look

tighter.

Next time you need to go shopping for new duds, plan

to bring along a friend you trust, who'll be honest

about how you look in the clothes you try on. She can

help you choose outfits and colors that best

compliment your body's features and that look good on

you!

In the best dressed

category, may I have the envelope, please...

Hey, you may still be working hard to lose weight and

that's a good thing. But meanwhile, it doesn't mean

you can't look as good as those little Hollywood

starlets parading down the red carpet.

Ahem! In the best dressed category---and may I

have the envelope, please. The winner is...YOU!

Love,
