START ALL OVER AGAIN

Monday, 03 October 2011

It's happened to me so many times. I'd get

up in the morning and I say to myself ",

you're gonna get your act together today. You'll

eat three well-balanced meals and get in a

30-minute walk, too!"

And when I said those words to myself in the

morning, I said them with conviction...I meant

those words! But, wouldn't you know it? By

midday, those plans of mine had fallen by the

wayside. I didn't eat three balanced meals and I

didn't workout that day, either. By the time I got

to bed, I was really upset with myself on how badly

I'd done that day.

"Why...WHY couldn't I stick to my

plan?"

Oh, I'd sit there lying in bed thinking to myself, "Why...WHY

couldn't I stick to my plan? Why did I have to

eat that big plate of barbecue ribs and onion

rings for dinner?" Then

I'd think about that great afternoon walk I was

going to take...but didn't. And the reason I didn't

is because I was part so "busy" and, honestly...I

was equal parts...lazy! Sometimes

I'd lay in bed crying and feeling like such a

blob...such a failure. And of

course, before I dozed off, I promised myself that

tomorrow, "I'm

going to do better!"

Do you ever experience this? Like me, do you ever

have regrets about how you didn't take good care of

yourself? It really is a shame, isn't it? And, you

ask, how did I break the cycle of beating myself up

and promising myself I'd do better tomorrow? Well,

I stopped making promises and started doing

the right thing!

I decided to devote some time every morning to

making out my plan. And I'm not only talking about

making a plan in my mind. I'm talking about making

that plan and writing it down on paper.

I'd write down my menu plan for the day and

schedule what time that day I'd get my workout in.

I'd begin my plan my writing down two

compliments to myself. Then I'd write down some of

my blessings and remind myself of how good God has

been to me. Next, I'd write down my menu plan for

the day and schedule what time that day I'd get my

workout in. After I finished making my plan, I'd

place it on the nightstand next to my bed. When I

got up the next morning, the first thing I'd do,

after saying my morning prayers, is look over the

plans I'd made the night before and then make sure I

followed those plans!

I want you to do this too. If you slip up here or

there, please don't beat yourself up. Forgive

yourself and move on. Even today,

I have my own share of slip ups. (Hey, I'm only

human, just like you.) But what I don't do

anymore is cry over spilled milk. I just pick

myself up, dust myself off and...start all over

again!

Love,
