Guest guest
THE PASSION Sunday, 22 May 2011 When I was a kid, I loved going to the two big department stores on Canal Street in New Orleans, Maison Blanche and D.H. Holmes. And that's especially true when I saw a commercial on TV advertising the latest must-have toy. If it was a toy I really wanted, I became passionate about having it. And after seeing the commercial and falling in love with it, I would remind my parents, constantly, how much I wanted it. "Mom, Dad...you do know what I want for Christmas, don't you?" They'd answer, "Yes, , of course we do!" But I'd drive them crazy about getting it anyway, (LOL). Yes, at an early age, I was a very passionate child. And let me ask you a question: What does passion mean? Well, passion is that inner feeling that drives you to achieve success or to get the things you really want in life. Passion comes from caring about something so much that you just have to have it. And...you're ready to work for it! Some people are passionate about making money. Others are passionate about learning. I know lots of artists and I've always found them to have a passion for creating. Truth is, it's good to have a passion....it's good to have something in life to strive for. I was talking to some of the students at Slimmons a few days ago who've been successful with their weight-loss. I've always enjoyed talking to them about their own successes and...their passions. I've always told you that if you want to lose weight, you've got to be passionate about it. Now I didn't say obsessed...I said passionate. And, believe me, there's a big difference. When you're passionate about something, you ponder it, you analyze it and think about what you must do to achieve it. For instance, you have to be passionate about the meals you prepare for yourself. Hey, have you ever cooked a meal while listening to opera music? Well, last week, I made a turkey meatloaf while listening to the opera, Madame Butterfly. It's music is so passionate and, I have to say, I cried the whole time as I mixed all of my ingredients together. But, I also have to say, it was the best meatloaf I'd ever made! LOL. You've got to be passionate about getting up in the morning and making the new day a great one for you...everyday. And when it comes to exercise, you've got to be passionate with your dance moves and with every one of those arm and leg-lifts you do! And once your passion leads you to a healthy weight, you're going to have to stay passionate...passionate enough to keep that weight off! May I ask what your passion is today? Hey, I'm simply passionate to know that important bit of information...about you! Love,
