Guest guest
85!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My fasting BG was 85 this morning! A Miracle! HAPPINESS!!!! Another happiness.....Nambe. Beautiful, wonderful Nambe. Yesterday's meals: 6am bowl: scrambled eggs in cream 11am bowl: ground beef, cabbage, onion, bell pepper 3pm bowl: salami 7pm bowl: ground beef, cabbage, onion, bell pepper 9pm bowl: Dubliner cheese Liquids: 1/4 gallon hibiscus tea 1 can of mineral water 1 coffee with cream 2 rum and cream drinks I finished my commission yesterday, (it will be ongoing, but the initial costuming is done), the only bowl I sold on eBay was ready to ship, so I decided that by noon, I was getting out of the house, I needed it desperately. This meant that since I was going to the post office, now was a good time to send a box to Hawaii of things I will need. I packed it with my carving tools, crochet hooks, various sewing notions and trims and doll things I will be using for photostories later on. Off to the post I went and then SHOPPING! lol. I am working on a wooden travel case for my little Pixie doll. So most of my shopping revolved around scrapbook papers, possible rugs, any idea at all that I could work with. But my eye was of course on other things too. I looked through some clothing, was once again dismayed at how ugly they make clothing for people of size. Black and orange, huge prints, bold colours to blind the eyes. Also, I don't get the revealing thing....I mean when I am this size, I am not really interested in sleeveless, low cut over the chest, or short tops higher than my hips. None of the jeans were to the waist, they were all hip huggers. Nothing new, just complaining as millions of obese women do that there just isn't any decent clothing available and the style is either too young or too old. I gave up on that one. I did find a bowl that caught my attention. I held it, put it down, held it, put it in the cart, put it back.....it was the weirdest experience. I kept telling myself there was no need to bring another bowl into the house. But it intrigued me. It kept pulling me back into it. It was a metal bowl, in an amoeba shape, fit in the hand like no other bowl I ever held. It was smooth (I love smooth surfaces) it was warm in the hand, not like other metals. My hesitancy was that I kept thinking that I would always have to use a hot pad if there was hot food in it. So I kept trying to leave it in the store, but kept coming back to it. It was only $2.99, so I finally relented and told myself I could use it as a something decorative. Later in the evening, when I finally got home, I used it for dinner, to test it out. Wow, while it got warmed from the food, it was a pleasant warm, not too hot to hold. It was amazing to me how this bowl felt in the hand, how it was delightful and the shape was so appealing. The one side dips down and cradles my spoon so nicely. This bowl hums! It is the first time the bowl made an impression on me, rather than me trying to decide if I like it. I went and did the water test, it holds about 3/4 cup liquid because of the shape, but definitely a cup of food. Passed the test. Then I thought what if this was not a bowl meant to eat out of? So I did a search for it and discovered that it was a famous bowl maker originating in the 1950's in New Mexico. These are handmade bowls and are composed of 8 or 9 different metals, meant to look like silver, but it doesn't tarnish. It is made to hold the temperature of the food, so cold foods stay cold, hot stay hot. It is called the Butterfly Bowl and is the first design of the company. http://www.nambe.com/namb/ctl10101/cp42811/si3200692/cl1/butterfly_bowl_in_namb_alloy? & path=c10101-def-USD-40604%23%23-1%23%23-1~~c10101-def-USD-42811%23%230%23%239g~~f156||4e~~f148||4e616d62c3a920416c6c6f79~~nf152||427574746572666c79 & hits=45 & sortby=int1 & offset=0 & CategoryPath=qq%20Namb%C3%A9%20Alloy%20xxqq%20Butterfly%20xx And I was shocked to find that my little $2.99 bowl goes for a retail price of $79, and is the smallest bowl they make (8oz). It has a number stamped on the bottom (579), so I could look it up. All other sizes start going up in price, with serving size bowls going for as much as $250! I looked at my little bowl and laughed, " you aren't so humble, after all! " . I did get some fresh veggies, cream and eggs yesterday. I tried to walk passed the liquor store door on my way into the entrance of Sam's Club, but I got caught in the vortex and was sucked into the booze shop. I looked around and was convinced by the salesman about this new rum was so good, he can hardly keep it on the shelf. I felt obligated to try it. lol. I was of two minds about it, and thought it was going to be a mistake. I can definitely say a few observations about it that I found very interesting. First, it was very good. I enjoyed the taste. I made a white Russian with cream and SF Coffee syrup. I really enjoyed that. I had two altogether and had no cravings, no desire for more, which probably was because of the cream. I went to bed a couple of hours later and woke up in the night with horrible night sweats! Once I stopped drinking wine, this went away. The moment I have any alcohol....I wake up so hot that I can hardly stand it. Windows were open, the fan was going....and I was drenched like I was in the tropics. Something in my body reacts to the alcohol. This is the first time I have made a major connection to booze and my body, even though I have always known that when I am in ketosis, I can feel the effects of alcohol much quicker than when my body is running on carbs. I also noticed that I was extra dry in the throat and nasal passages this morning and feeling dehydrated, bordering on a slight headache. How I felt, was more like how I felt when drinking far more booze in the old days. I am definitely getting more sensitive to whatever I consume, or I am getting better at noticing the differences and making the connections. In the old days, I use to boast I could eat anything....but it is no longer true. I can get sick easily from many foods and drinks. I can perceive the changes, the reactions in my body and spirit. As I continue to want only to feel my best, it is getting easier to give the stuff up, rather than rely on " shoulds or shouldn'ts " when it comes to eating and drinking. So today, I am working on a project for awhile, maybe get back outside for awhile...who knows. All I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed having my scrambled eggs in my Nambe, and felt it hum in my hand! Pure happiness! Yes, I know, it's crazy. -- Posted By One Small Bowl to One Small Bowl at 4/01/2011 07:22:00 AM
