Guest guest
HALF-OFF! Thursday, 19 May 2011 Oh, who doesn't like the feeling of going into a big department store and spotting an item you like that's been greatly reduced in price? You know, maybe it was a pair of shoes you'd fallen in love with on an earlier visit. You even tried them on and they looked simply fab on you. But you passed on buying them because you didn't want to pay full price. But you returned to the store a few weeks later and, lo-and-behold, they'd been marked down 50%! Oh my goodness. Well, now that they're such a bargain, you scoop them right up! You got home, so proud of your new shoes and the great price you got on them. You couldn't wait to show your husband. "Honey, look at these beautiful new shoes. They'll be perfect for the outfit I'm wearing to Bill and 's party next week. Aren't they fabulous? And the really good news is that they were...HALF-OFF!" Like I said, who doesn't get excited about getting something they really want when the price has been reduced 50%? That's right, it's HALF-OFF. Well, that may be true when it comes to a pair of shoes you like at the mall. But when it comes to our body's weight, the idea of half-off can be a lot more daunting to many of us, can't it? Oh, you know what I mean. I can't tell you how many E-mails I receive from people who need to lose half of their body's weight. And the bad news is that some of them feel defeated before they even get started. They become intimidated thinking about the amount of weight they have to lose. But...they shouldn't! When I began The Show, back in the early 1980's, I had a lady on the show who'd written me and she was oh-so depressed. She weighed 300 and needed to lose 150 pounds. That's right, she had to lose half of her body. And oh, she was so discouraged at the prospect of having to lose so much weight. But I told her not to waste time being depressed by the mission at hand. I reminded her that if she didn't do something about her weight now, then she could end up weighing three hundred and 50 pounds. And, if she kept going, could end up weighing even more. I told her to remember that she didn't gain that weight overnight. It took time to gain the weight and she gained it...one pound at a time. And hey, that's the way she was going to have to lose it too, one pound at a time! I kept in touch with this young lady and, you know what? She did go to work, stayed focused, worked hard and, indeed, did end up cutting her weight...in half! She reached her goal-weight of 150 pounds. And oh how proud she was of herself! (Wouldn't you be?) Many you are in the same position this young lady was once in. Maybe you have to cut your weight in half. But please, don't get down or feel discouraged about your mission. Yes you can reach your goal weight...just like she did. Hey, I'm not kidding, you know how good it feels it to get a new pair of shoes or a beautiful new hat at half price, right? Well, imagine how good you're going to feel when you get the numbers on your scale...HALF-OFF! Love,
