YOUR HEALTHY

SMILE

Friday, 27 January 2012

That smile of yours, it says so much about

you. And let me ask, do you smile a lot? Do you

laugh a lot? I know I do a lot of laughing and

nothing makes me happier than making others laugh,

too. I've told you before, people with happier

dispositions--who smile more, who laugh more are not

just happier but they live longer, too.

Did you know how important

that smile of yours is to your good health?

But did you know how important that smile of yours is

to your good health? I'm talking specifically about your

teeth. It's so important to take good care of

your teeth and gums for reasons you may not even be

aware of. In fact, when was the last time you visited

the dentist and had your teeth professionally

cleaned? Did you know how important clean, healthy

teeth and gums are to your living a long and healthy

life? Let me tell you why.

I've told you before that heart disease is the leading

cause of death among Americans. But here's something

you may not have known. New research presented at the

American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions last

November found that people who have their teeth

professionally cleaned regularly had a 24% lower

risk of

heart attack during the course of their lives. But

wait, there's more. Those people who regularly

visited their dentist for a teeth cleaning also had a 13% lower

risk of

suffering from a stroke as they got older. See, I

told you taking good care of your teeth is very

important. Now keep reading.

If you're one of those

people who's afraid to visit the dentist, it's time to

get over that fear!

Professional teeth cleaning by your dentist appears to

reduce inflammation-causing bacterial growth that

actually leads to heart attack or stroke. Every time

you brush your teeth, your gums release a small amount

of bacteria into your mouth. That small amount of

bacteria is normal and not usually a problem. But

your dentist can help eliminate the amount of bacteria

present in your mouth. So if you're one of those

people who's afraid to visit the dentist, I'm telling

you, it's time to get over that fear!

If heart disease runs in your family, it's all the

more reason to take proper care of your teeth and

gums. Brush, floss and rinse your mouth with a good

mouthwash daily. And, oh yes, get yourself to the

dentist for at least an annual cleaning, okay?

That smile of yours says so

much about you.

Like I said, that smile of yours says so much about

you. And one of the things I want your smile to say

is that you're taking good care of those pearly whites and your overall

good health. Hey. I want to see that beautiful smile

of yours...for many years to come!

Love,
