Guest guest
UNDER THE KNIFE Thursday, 15 September 2011 This week, I know several people who're facing some type of surgery. One friend of mine is having her thyroid removed. (Boy, you've really got to watch your thyroid. It's a very important organ and regulates your body's metabolism.) Another lady I know is having a benign lump removed from her breast . And one lady who writes me regularly is facing a mastectomy. And these are just some of the surgeries I hear about from friends of mine all over the country every week. The surgeries I just told you about are one kind of surgery. But let's not forget how many people choose elective surgery for weight-loss, for instance. And yes, there're those people going in for cosmetic surgery. They're having a little work done on their eyes, their nose or their chin. (Gosh, I wonder how many surgical procedures are performed in our country everyday?) Some of these surgeries are fairly simple and can be done in an outpatient situation. That means the person having the surgery will have the surgery performed in a clinic or outpatient facility and go home the same day. But as you know, some surgeries are much more intensive and may involve a long hospital stay. When people write to tell me about their surgeries, they often ask me to pray for them. And I have to tell you, when I answer mail from someone who's facing surgery, I do say a prayer before I hit "send" on my computer and forward a response to them. Ya' know, I sometimes wonder if God thinks I pray too much? (I hope not and I'm sure it's impossible to pray too much, don't you?) See, I have a lot of prayers to send up to Heaven...everyday! I pray that all of my friends facing surgery are able to get through their operations and return home in much better shape after their surgery is done. I've been lucky, not facing many surgeries in my life. But I may as well confess, a couple of doctors have wanted to perform a little surgery...on my brain. LOL. If you have an upcoming surgery, please, think positive and say your prayers. Believe you're going to have a quick recovery and feel better after it's all done. In the meantime... I'll be praying for you! Love,
