HAIR!

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Gimme head with hair, long beautiful hair,

shining, gleaming, streaking, flaxen, waxen...hair,

hair, hair, hair, hair!

Oh, sorry. You caught me singing the theme song from

that classic Broadway musical...HAIR! Oh yes, we

Americans love our hair, don't we? These days, lots

of guys like the no-hair, bald look but...not

me! I

take very good care of these curly locks of mine. And

how much attention do you pay to those beautiful locks

of yours, huh?

Your hair should be your

crowning glory and Americans spend billions of dollars

a year on hair care.

Your hair should be your crowning glory and Americans

spend billions of dollars a year on hair care. And

there's no reason your hair can't look

better-than-ever as you age. But in order to

keep it looking fabulous, you must take good care of

your hair everyday and that means regular shampooing

and conditioning. Of course, if you're a woman, you

probably make regular visits to your hairdresser,

too. In fact, some women are as close to their

hairdressers as they are to their doctors...and

you know I'm not kidding.

But in between those visits to the beauty parlor,

there are things you can do to keep that hair of yours

looking gorgeous. For instance, did you know,

especially during the summer, wearing a hat can

protect against sun damage and lessen hair loss?

Worrying about everything

is not good for your hair.

Worrying about everything is not good for your hair,

either. The Mayo Clinic says that stress can

definitely lead to hair loss. But the good news is

that reducing the stress in your life can actually

help the hair you've loss grow back.

Talk to your doctor about stress management

techniques.

Don't smoke! Nicotine

decreases blood circulation to your scalp and can take

a toll on the health of your hair. So you smokers

have one

more good reason to kick the

cigarette habit.

And here's something else I want you to consider. The

shampoo and conditioner you put on your hair is

important. But what you put into your

body is

just as important for the health of your hair. I'm

talking about what

you eat. Your hair loves good nutrition, just

like the rest of your body. So that means your hair

care doesn't begin and end in the shower or at your

beauty salon. That hair care should follow you into the

kitchen, too.

Your hair grows about 1/4

to 1/2 inch a month. And the foundation of new hair

growth is in the foods we eat...those nutrients.

Your hair grows about 1/4 to 1/2 inch a month. And

the foundation of new hair growth is in the foods we

eat...those nutrients. If you eat a healthy

diet, you'll grow stronger, healthier cells throughout

your body. That means your skin will glow, you'll

have strong, healthier nails and your hair will be

bouncier & shinier, making you look and feel like

a million bucks. By the way, your hair loves dark

green vegetables, poultry, beans, low-fat dairy

products and whole grains.

And oh yeah, I have to add this. Crash diets to

achieve quick weight-loss can play havoc on your

hair. That's something I I earned personally when I

tried to lose weight fast by starving myself.

Fad/crash diets are one of the worse things you can do

to your hair!

Now I've got some more good news for you. If you were

born with thin hair and it just runs in your family, a

well-balanced food program that includes plenty of

hair-growth promoting proteins can make a difference

in the thickness, shine and overall good health of

your hair.

Oh, our hair...Shoulder length or longer,

here baby, there mama, everywhere daddy,

daddy...hair, hair, hair, hair...HAIR!

Love,
