Hang on - let me set the stop watch feature on this watch of mine.

Dang it - can't figure it out. Never mind, take all the time you

need.

>So. I went to the doctor the other day and it was

"gently suggested" that I walk 2 miles per day (ok, "I

want you to walk 2 miles every day" is not exactly a

gentle suggestion, it's more like an order to me, but I am

trying to keep it positive) LOL!!

Yeah, I get things like that all the time, along with the sometimes

not so "gentle suggestion" to eat 1000 calories a day, but my

exercise suggestion usually includes 90 minutes of aerobic exercise

daily, 3 sessions of an hour each of weight lifting/toning, as well

as the miles of walking.

>How's it going...? I am alive. My knee is crabby,

but no worse than without walking.

That's good news - that it's no worse. Are you still allowed to see

a physical therapist to see exactly how much your knee can tolerate,

or has that run out already?

>It didn't help that it's been HOT here (90s)

Upper 80's for us, but for the next 2 days they're promising only

upper 70's to go with the storms. At least if the electric goes out

and we can't open windows we won't suffocate to death.

>so

hard to get comfortable and sleep at night

My sleep has been awful, between the heat, the stress, the back

pains, getting up to pee every 2 hours, and the "too much to do, not

enough time to do it" syndrome that came with caring for the aunt.

Last night was the first time in months that I was able to sleep a

full 8 hours. It was still a bit uncomfortable, heat-wise, because

even with the AC on 66 the room was still around 76, and if I have

the fan blow on me it hurts my back more than it's already hurting.

I'm tired of having to use a heating pad when it's 80 degrees in the

room already, so the fan is set to blow away from us. I wake up

drenched in sweat every time.

>and it seems like every person was

being stupid yesterday.

LOL It's everywhere! I just read this morning in the newspaper

(Well, yesterday's paper, but no time to read it then) some lady

whose husband left raw chicken in the trunk of his car when it was

90 outside from noon until about 8pm, if it was still safe to eat.

Are people really that dumb?? And don't get me started about the

people in the offices at the nursing home or in the grocery store.

I'm so glad we're not having contact with any other humans (in

person) today!

> OH I don't remember if I told you,

but one guy that got laid off got rehired!! 13 months later!! I

was sooooooo happy to see him come back to work!!

I remember the layoffs and glad you got at least one set of eyes and

hands back to help ease the burden.

>Ok ok ok, back to the "weight loss" topic....

Waaa! I don' wanna!!

>I know any time you start "being good" and following a

program you lose a nice amount of weight that first week

because more than likely it's some water weight or

something shift, but.....

Yeah. People go through this, think their new plan (Whatever it may

be) is working beautifully, then get SO depressed when they gain

part of it back the next week and lose either 1 pound or nothing the

next, then decide it doesn't work after all and quit altogether.

>I did go back and find some pictures of me when I was

in the 170 range

For me that would be about 1969 or so. IF my parents took any photos

the month or so I was that weight, that is.

>I hope everyone on the eastern side is safe and taking

care and we're all watching and praying for you all.

It's now after noon and all public transportation has been stopped,

all the stores in our city should be closed, shelters are open,

mandatory evacuees evacuated, etc. It drizzled about a half hour

around 10am and we've had nothing since, and the wind hasn't even

started to kick up yet but are just breezily blowing at a whopping 6

mph. Of course, it's much worse down in the North Carolina (200,00

people with no electricity) and VA area at this time, but this is it

here for now. One of the local stations is currently showing a live

broadcast from a shore town, and there are people walking along the

boardwalk, even kids playing in the sand. That area is supposed to

be completely evacuated by 2pm but it doesn't look like that's gonna

happen. We'll get hit hard by tomorrow morning up here, but the

local weather guys are now saying it'll be tropical storm and not

hurricane strength when it hits.

>I've never experienced anything like that, so the

pictures just amaze me (sorry!)

I'll take a hurricane over your winter storms any old year!

>Talk with you in a

day or two.

I'll be here, fighting the kid

& husband for computer time. :)

Sue, you crack me up!

Let's see....

Physical therapy: I am sure is like "most" things on my insurance plan, I can self-refer for a lot of things. PT will fall in with chiropractic, massage therapy, accupuncture, etc and get 30 visits per calendar year. I hadn't thought about that, so may need to think of going back to PT to see. But, I also suspect getting walking and moving on the knee instead of whining and crying about it and doing nothing will help.

Work-wise, I think we have actually replaced in one way or another all 10 positions that were eliminated from our team. We were right about 30, cut down to 20 and back up to 28 now I think, so it is wonderful. Another gal that left during the time of cutbacks because she didn't want to wait and see had an interview with a different department yesterday, so it would be nice to see her back in another position.

Too funny: you'll take a hurricane over my winters any day. Yeah, I am not looking forward to another winter. Thinking it's time to look for a snowblower to buy. Then again, DS17 is more helpful around the house than DS19-to-be is/was. I love him to pieces because he is my son, but now that he's gone.... wow, it's been sort of nice LOL!!
