Guest guest
Like gleeful little children we went on an on about going home and what we would do and well, of course, what we will eat and drink. I sighed about the wine, husband sighed about the dinners I will cook. There was excitement and once we picked up the last load, it meant we were heading home. I don't if this heavily influenced me or what, but I was suddenly on a kick to eat. For lunch, I was insatiable. I snagged some of husband's mixed nuts and then I got the idea to try a can of raspberries in syrup that has been on the truck since a year ago. I had been looking through the stash of foods I will take off the truck, foods I know husband won't eat like sardines, when the raspberries came into view and into my conscience. They were intense! The consistency was mush with seeds, but very flavourful. I tried to pull the mush out of the syrup but it was not possible. So I ate half the can, looked at the carb and calorie count and used a similar entry in my database. It really knocked me up high for calories and carbs, but I enjoyed it. This didn't keep me from wanting more fresh for dinner. I made a cucumber, tomato and onion salad at dinner (using up the fresh foods, leaving enough for the last day on the road) and I then added vinegar and olive oil. Wow, my mouth was very happy with the contrasts in tastes. The count is over my daily budget, but I checked my month to date average and it is 1078, just under my 1100 budget. Funny, but I think I feel better from eating more food. It's like my body is smiling. Maybe it is just the home-time happies, but I wonder. Delivery of the load is tomorrow morning, but as these things go, we have no idea it if will take them 2 hours or umpteen hours. Then about a 2 hour drive home. We will hit the buffet before going home because I will not have any foods in the house ready to eat, we are too tired to shop for groceries until the next day. The buffet we go to has fabulous foods, meats off the grill and a salad bar. Last time I was there they had made brussel sprouts that were so good. To balance out the high calories yesterday and tomorrow's dinner, I will stay under 1000 today. My BG this morning was 88, my mood is upbeat and happy. I checked my ketones this morning and was surprised to see a moderate reading! I thought for sure that raspberry stuff would have knocked me out. -- Posted By i Mouse to Mindful i Mouse at 3/10/2011 05:52:00 AM
