Guest guest
you may have hit a plateau. You need to change something even if it is a little change. It is almost like lying to your body to release that weight. Maybe add a glass of water. OR add an exercise. OR give yourself a day to recover exercise wise. Look at where you are and see what you can change up. Re: A thought about Biggest Loser I have been wondering about exercise calories and what counts. I was counting pretty much any activity that was above the norm. The norm for me when I started was sitting on my a$$. So I started out counting the calories for cleaning above the minimum that I was doing, yard work, etc. I have read different schools of thought on this approach, though. It was working for me for a while but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Something isn't working, at least. Has the more active me become my new norm? What do you guys think? What kind of activity do you track? 352/329/298 > > > I saw a video this morning abotu BL. Bob was saying on the ranch it is calories IN/calories OUT. I think people forget this formula. It takes 3500 calories to lose a lb. So I am going to try and track calories. Not sure how to track exercise calories... MMM. Food for thought. > > NH > ------------------------------------
Guest guest
When I was tracking my exercise; instead of trying to figure out how many calories I would burn I would focus on how many minutes I added to the exercise I was doing and always striving to add at least one more minute to what I was doing. I think when counting calories I would tend to over estimate how many caloires burned -- and under estimate how many I would eat! For me the challenge and focus was just to get moving on a regular, consistent basis. Dacia<>< ". . . some people brought a deaf man to Jesus." Guest guest
Are you "tracking" it so you can eat the points or calories or anything like that, or just to know how much you burned off? If it's the latter, I don't know that it matters, but if you are eating more than you are burning off, that could be why the scale is stalled. Maybe add an additional 15 minutes of activity now that you are in a pattern, or cut a few calories (not sure what they recommend for where you are at, I think my range is in the 1600 area) Re: A thought about Biggest Loser I have been wondering about exercise calories and what counts. Guest guest
OR when I was following the curves plan, they would actually have you increase your calories for a few days until you gained 1-2 lbs and then SLAM the calories down again to get things moving again. In the WW world this is called "the wendie plan" you can google this and see how she recommended varying your points from day to day so you ended up using them all in the same week, but a couple days were high points days, some were low points days and some were spot on. Guest guest
I totally agree with the high calorie one day thing. I tracked for one week. Having a hand ful of peanuts every night and I actually lost. BUT then I the handful turned into a fistful. which turned into to many so I stopped. I have a issue with portions. Re: A thought about Biggest Loser I actually track everything in a spreadsheet and use a rolling ten-day average for all of my nutrition goals. (I am an engineer by trade - translation N-E-R-D - LOL)There is some flexibility there but that may be what I need to do. I seem to lose best when I have a high calorie day thrown in the mix. I actually had a doctor once that dieted Mon - Fri and ate what he wanted on the weekend. Of course, over time, as he lost weight his "wants" change to healthier options. He lost around 80 pounds doing this Mon - Fri thing. I have trouble getting started back when I do something like that, though. I may need to mix it up a little, though. I called myself having a "bad" food weekend this weekend. Yesterday, I put everything into the tracker anyway and my calories for both days were within 20 calories of goal each day! I was off on some of the other goals like sodium and fiber. It was just amazing to me, though, that without planning, measuring, trying whatever you want to call it I was spot on my calorie goal. Talk about a rut! 352/329/298 > > > > > > > > > I saw a video this morning abotu BL. Bob was saying on the ranch it is > > calories IN/calories OUT. I think people forget this formula. Guest guest
Awesome, ! I was just asking because when I did WW that seemed to be my goal: exercise so I could eat more points LOL and that's rather counter productive Re: A thought about Biggest Loser No, I don't "eat" my extra calories. It is just more for curiosity and to see if am doing as much as I think I am. The aches and pains tell me I am doing plenty! LOL I am not a fan of exercise for the sake of exercise. I get really bored, really fast. But I am a putterer. Since I have not been working, I have cleaned out the garage, refinished the wood floors, completely redone the flower beds, etc. I did find a buddy to walk with today. I am not sure how easy it is going to be for our schedules to mesh but it would be nice to have a buddy. I have also decided to take my dog to the park and walk with him. He is old and lazy (like me!) but at least it will be something. My neighborhood is too hilly for me to attempt at his point. And like the old joke - it is uphill in both directions from my house - literally. I have to find something since I ave closed the pool now. Thanks for all the comments. I am just trying to get back on track like I was earlier this summer. Thanks! 352/329/298 > > > > > > I saw a video this morning abotu BL. Bob was saying on the ranch it is calories IN/calories OUT.
