Guest guest
YOU MAKE ME PROUD! Tuesday, 18 October 2011 Ya' know, I never thought I'd end up in the fitness industry. I opened Slimmons because I wanted to create a fun place for myself and others to exercise. Now let me tell you, I'll always love food. But when we eat too much food, of course we end up gaining weight. But with my own studio to sweat in, problem solved. I could burn all of those extra calories and have fun doing it. When I was doing General Hospital back in the 80's, on weekends from the show, I traveled the country teaching big exercise classes at lots of shopping malls. When I was doing General Hospital way back in the 1980's, on weekends from the show, I traveled the country teaching big exercise classes at lots of shopping malls. Oh, how I loved it! Then, after The Show and doing my first workout videos, I continued traveling the country teaching classes and meeting so many wonderful people. I can remember during my travels years ago, meeting a lady who'd come to one of my appearances in Cleveland, Ohio. She loved working out with me and had lost 50 pounds. After losing weight and being inspired by me, she became a certified fitness instructor. I thought...how fantastic! See, her story is very similar to mine. Like I told you before, after losing weight, I wanted to share how I did it with the world and that's what she wanted to do. I was in Canada a few months ago appearing at a big national fitness convention. While I was there, several people came up to tell me how I'd always inspired them to exercise. And they're now personal trainers or have opened their own fitness studios. I receive so many e-mails from men and women who say that watching me for years on TV inspired them to get into the fitness field. So very proud, that's how! Oh, my. Who knew this former fat kid from New Orleans would become instrumental in encouraging so many others to devote their own lives to making the world a healthier place? And when I travel from city to city, as I walk through airports all over the U.S., I can't tell you how many fitness instructors and personal trainers I meet. I always make time to talk to them and hear their stories. So, do you have a career that gets you really excited? If not, maybe you should think about teaching a fitness class, even if you only do it a few times a week. There are so many types of workouts out there and one of them may be just perfect for you to teach. I'm talking everything from water-aerobics, to classes for Seniors to Zumba classes. And just think how good you'll feel as you inspire others to take good care of their bodies, just like you're doing. And now...A toast! To all of the great men and women who're in this wonderful fitness industry with me! Love,
