MEASURE UP!

Sunday, 16 October 2011

Like me, are you in the kitchen cooking on

this beautiful Sunday? Yeah? Well, let me ask you

something else. When you cook, do you keep your

measuring cups and spoons out? I mean, I wonder if

you measure your portions so that you're eating only the

right amount of

the foods your body needs. Or...are you the kind of

person who insists on eyeballing the foods

you cook and eat to determine how much is right for

you? Oh, no. Because you know...all eyeballs are not created

equal.

Big portions lead to big people and there's

just no way around that fact.

When you're cooking, you have to measure all of the

ingredients correctly if you want the recipe you're

preparing to turn out perfectly. And if you don't

portion your foods correctly, you know what that can lead to,

right? Hey, big portions lead to big people and

there's just no way around that fact.

I'm always surprised when I go someplace to eat and

see just how much food some people pile onto their

plates. That serving of mashed potatoes? Well, they

think they've

put a single serving on their plates. But, to me,

it looks more like two servings. Heck, maybe even three!

A lot of overweight people declare they

really "don't eat that much."

A lot of overweight people write me and declare they

really "don't eat that much." And come on, that's a

little hard to believe if a person is very

overweight. Keep in mind, for every 3500 calories

you overeat

during the course of a year, you'll gain

another pound. (Hey, it really is just simple

math.) But if you're on a calorie-reduced food

program of, say, 1500 calories per day and exercise

regularly, you will begin to lose weight. (It's

that math thing again.)

I wonder how many sets of measuring cups and spoons

you have in your kitchen. Well, I've gotta tell

you, they don't do you much good unless you...put

them to use. They should be out and ready for you

to use whenever you're preparing your meals.

You'd be surprised at how much food your

body doesn't

need on a daily basis.

Now I must tell you, I didn't know anything about

the correct portion sizes of the foods I ate when I

was growing up. But after all of the eating

disorders I've been through in my life, I finally

learned how to eat my foods in the right-size

portions. You'd be surprised at how much food your

body doesn't need on a

daily basis. And when I teach people about

portions, they're usually shocked to see what the

correct portion-sizes of most foods look like.

After I learned how much food I should be eating, I

created my Deal-A-Meal program

followed by my FoodMover. Both

programs teach you how to make sure you're eating

the right-size portions. The FoodMover comes with a

booklet that lists the correct portion sizes of

foods from all six food groups. (And you do know

about the six food groups, don't you?)

If you really want to be educated about what you eat

and how to properly lose weight, click this link to find out more about

the FoodMover and get

yourself one.

In the meantime, I always say that

education is the key to success. And when you learn

to eat wisely, in the process, you'll be building

yourself a better body, inside and out. So get out

those measuring cups and spoons in your kitchen

and...put them to work for you!

Love,
