Guest guest
BUT... Monday, 04 April 2011 Everyone reading today's message knows how important and valuable exercise is to our bodies and minds. And over the years, I've written thousands of articles about why we should incorporate sweatin' into our lives, everyday. I'll admit, I was a late bloomer when it came to working out. In the past, I'd always make excuses for why I "couldn't" exercise. And my excuses were so convincing that I never got around to sticking to any kind of exercise program. But here I am, all of these years later, receiving E-mail from people telling me how right I am about the importance of working out. It's so typical for me to see a line like this one, ", you're right. Exercise is important, BUT..." (Oh, oh! It's the "but" that worries me.) Okay, I'm gonna go over a few of the excuses people E-mailed me for their not exercising this week: ", I really wanted to exercise today but...I had to run a few errands and they took longer than I expected." Oh, I had to I roll my eyes at that one. Guess what everybody? We all have errands to run and things to do. But we have to space those things out and plan them so they don't take all day to get done. Me? I'm a fast errand runner. I get into the store, grab what I need, pay for it and...get out! Plus, I do my workouts in the morning which gives me the energy I need to get all of those things I need to get done...done, in no time at all. Here's another one. ", I was going to exercise today but my son came down with a cold." Well, I was sorry to hear that. None of us like being stuck with a nasty-old cold. But really, what did her workout time have to do with a son who was on cold medication? And, most probably, the medicine had made him sleepy. What was this mom doing in the meantime? Sitting and staring at her son all day as he slept? I don't think so. And I really liked this excuse. ", I was going to exercise but my husband was in a bad mood. His attitude ruined my spirit and my intention to workout just evaporated!" I had to laugh and...are you laughing with me? I mean, come on. The first question is did this lady actually put her husband in a bad mood earlier? Besides, her husband's mood had nothing to do with getting in her workout time. Now that's a fact! And here's an excuse I see quite a bit or...a version of, anyway. ", I was about to put one of your workout DVDs into my player and start my workout, But before I could begin, the doorbell rang. You'll never believe this but it was my neighbor holding a plate of freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies she'd just taken out of the oven!" Wow! I certainly understand why this lady suddenly couldn't exercise. And what kind of neighbor was this anyway? Bringing over a plate of warm chocolate-chip cookies to a neighbor she knew was trying to lose weight? Well, all I can say is that she was not being...a good neighbor. LOL. Okay, today is Monday. And I want you promise yourself that you will workout...everyday this week! Toss your excuses...all of them and carve out 45 minutes-to-an-hour to do something good...for you! I mean it, this week, no more "Buts." Hey, remember your...BUTT! Love,
