BODY DETOX

Friday, 08 April 2011

When a person is having an alcohol

or drug problem, many of them go to a rehab center in

order to detox those harmful substances from their

bodies. There're quite a few shows on TV that deal

with this subject and one of them is called Celebrity

Rehab. It's a very tough show for me to watch,

especially witnessing the difficult emotions these

people have to go through.

Well today, we're going to talk

about detoxing our bodies by putting better foods

into them. See, when you're not eating properly and

your taste buds have learned to love all of the wrong

kinds of food, it's a good thing to detox your body by

not having those foods for an extended period of

time. Just like with drugs and alcohol, when you

detox your body, you may also go through a whole range

of emotions. And one of them may be anxiety. I mean,

one day you're able to eat all of the chocolate-chip

cookies you want and, the next, you have to stop

eating them altogether.

Now the good news is that there are foods you can eat

that will actually help your body detox. One of them

is red bell peppers. These babies are packed with

vitamins A & C which help prevent cell damage and

inflamation. Not only that, red bell peppers have

been shown to have anti-aging properties to help keep

us young-looking. (I'll be stocking up on some later

today. LOL.)

Did you know that fresh herbs can

help detox your body? Cilantro and parsley, for

example, help cleanse your body of a number of

toxins you may encounter in your daily lives.

And here it comes. To help detox your body, you also

want to stop your consumption of soda...both

regular and diet. And how long have I been telling

you to do that? Why? Because those sodas,

consumed over time, can actually cause your teeth to

lose some important minerals.

All green vegetables help detox your body, too. Kale

for instance is highly nutritious, contains some

powerful antioxidants and also contains chlorophyll,

an important blood cleanser. And when we have cleaner

blood, our skin appears clearer and more beautiful,

too.

As you're working to detox your

body, you should also eliminate processed foods. You

should focus on a eating more of those foods grown

naturally, in the ground. And yep, I'm

talking about those oh-so-good for your body fruits

and vegetables.

The proteins you eat should be very lean and

your dairy products should be fat-free. And during

your detox period, you should eat plenty of yams,

sweet potatoes and brown rice. Brown rice is

especially good for you because it's still covered

with the natural bran that provides its brown color.

That makes brown rice a great body-cleanser, too.

When I'm preparing my meals, especially my salads and

vegetables, I not only think how good they're going to

taste. But I think about how they're helping to keep

my body in tip-top shape because I'm making the right

food choices.

Hey, I want you to get started

detoxing your body this weekend!

Love,
