Husband decided at the last minute that yesterday, after delivery, that we were going to have a hot shower and lunch in the restaurant. That was unexpected! It felt so good! I chose a cranberry apple grilled chicken salad, as the other salad offered was breaded chicken. The salad was full of spinach and although the pecans were caramelized, there weren't too many. The apple was very small, so I ate the slices without too much worry about the carbs. When I tallied it all later, I saw that it shot me up high in carbs, but it was all so flavourful and fresh and worth it. Because I had to list all the individual ingredients, I just copied the totals, as it would have been too big a picture. I also had zucchini and bell pepper for dinner, adding a tablespoon of butter, so my calories were once again higher than I wanted, but under the target. My BG was 98 this morning....sigh. I wanted to take a reading an hour after the meal but completely forgot. I really need to do that, fasting BG's aren't the whole picture. I am sure the sugar in the fruit of the salad and the extra veggies are showing up in that 98, when I was 72 yesterday morning before the meals. Another thing happened yesterday that was so unusual. Out of the blue, husband decided I could have my own internet while I am on home time alone! He checked into all kinds of options, but since we are not home but every 6-7 weeks, it didn't make sense to spend the money on phone lines, cable TV, or anything that is not used. We decided to try cricket mobile, which it like what we use now (Alltel). Cricket has no contracts, and I can use it for a couple of months and stop the service. It may be that I can start the service up again if I decide to try and get a job when I get back from Hawaii. That is a consideration we are talking about now. We've reduced trucking down from 4 more years to 3 with the job in Hawaii, if I work one more year when I get back by living in our apartment, then I could cut his trucking down by another year. Two more years to retirement sure would be nice. It would also mean I would be done with trucking. I haven't worked for 2 years now, I am very reluctant to get back in the game, but perhaps just knowing I can quit at any time or it would only be for a year, I can do it. It will depend on the job market at the time and if anyone is willing to hire a middle aged woman! Anyways, having internet while I am home alone is a huge relief to me. I can stay connected to a support system during this vulnerable time. I really need that. --

What I have seen in my area lately is there are not a lot of jobs. When someone is hiring, they are slammed with applicants, so good luck!

An example: a few weeks ago, the kids went to a job fair for summer jobs at the park, like for ride attendants. I think the city said they were hiring 200 people and the news said they had 1200-1500 show up to the job fair.

It's the same or close when they hire for the fair in the fall, where I work a couple of weeks for extra cash. I am automatically rehired year to year now because I have an "insider" the hiring manager for the 4H dept LOL! All I have to do is drop off an application so HR has my current address and W4 info ;-)

Good luck!

I am not really expecting anything. The market around our area is very slim too. I will see when the time comes. It’s not necessary for me to work at this point. Been working since I was 18 straight through until I was 53. I hope I am done! lol
