Yeah, he can say that - HE lives in southern California! Here in the North East many areas are having snow this week! > I mean, it really is the season of...The New! Trees that have been barren all winter are beginning to sprout little buds that that'll turn into beautiful green leaves. In some parts of the country, brightly colored tulips are peaking from beneath the once cold soil. The sound of sniffles and sneezes and wheezes in the air as people with asthma and allergies gasp for breath. The pollen count has been *very* high around here for the past week. >When I was a kid, I went to a lot of the spring festivals in New Orleans. Even then, I just loved admiring the beautiful spring flowers. The sweet smell of all those blossoms was intoxicating. Even with all my allergies I *do* love flowers and hope to hit the Macy's annual spring flower show later this month. They do such beautiful displays with fresh-cut and potted flowers! >And I can't wait for all of those delicious springtime fruits and vegetables headed for our local supermarkets. I saw fresh strawberries at $8.99/lb yesterday and they looked awful. Signs are up in all the stores to expect high prices and poor quality produce thanks to the bad winter weather across the country. >I bought oranges at the farmers market and they were so juicy and sweet, they were like candy! A week ago I bought a box of those tiny Clementine oranges and before the week was out half were moldy and rotten, most of the rest turned hard as rocks. I think we were able to eat 4 or 5 before the rest went bad and had to be tossed. Back to canned and frozen. Spring *will* be here this year, won't it?
